Educational Coordinator (Early Childhood Development) – Chiang Mai

BDF supports access to essential services for more than 1,600 vulnerable children and their families living in construction sites and slums. Through specifically tailored educational programs and flexible individual support, Baan Dek Foundation protects marginalized children, enables families to become self-sustainable and provides opportunities for a better future.

Responsibilities of the advertised position:

Baan Dek Foundation is currently looking for a professional and dedicated local Educational Coordinator (Early Childhood Development)  who will commit to contribute to the overall goals of Baan Dek Foundation and provide specialized support for the Child Development Program to support the beneficiaries targeted by the Foundation.

 

The Employee will work under direct supervision of the program manager (Child Development) In Chiang Mai.

 

The main responsibilities of the Employee and will include, but are not restricted to, the following:

PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT AND COORDINATION 

  • Together with Management and with the technical advisors, create and develop appropriate tools to address the needs of the communities, ensuring – at all times – that all projects are conducted in accordance with BDF’s Child Protection Policy, ethical standards, and best practices; and

  • Contribute within the Management Team to the general strategy and vision of BDF.

 

PROGRAM IMPLEMENTATION 

  • Design teaching plan with content that follows the Baan Dek Foundation curriculum and learning units according to the early childhood development curriculum from the Ministry of Education in Thailand and the Developmental Surveillance and Promotion Manual (DSPM). This includes activities following the teaching plan.

  • Implement the teaching plan and associated activities, ensuring the nursery has a safe and educational environment to ensure the children's well-being and safety; and promote child protection and child development

  • Follow-up and report on activities, including completing the monitoring and evaluation in line with the DSPM plan for each child

  • Facilitate referrals for all children facing difficult situations;

  • Identify children who may require or benefit from nursery as part of field visits to reach the target for the project and communicate about the project and activities to beneficiaries;

  • Support in terms of administrative / legal matters related to the project.

  • Attend weekly nursery meetings

  • Complete home visit with Educational Coordinator and Social Advisors to register children in nursery, set family development objectives, timeline for their completion, parental authorization forms and inform the child’s parents about nursery rules and regulations

  • Complete Self-Assessment Report (SAR) on an annual basis for the Department of Education. This includes an assessment of the organization, management, teachers and children.

  • Maintain documents to meet the legal requirements

 

REPORTING

  • Ensure reporting and follow-up of actions undertaken with beneficiaries;

  • Report weekly to the Program Manager

 

Qualifications: 

Nationality: Thai nationals only

Language: Native Thai, upper Intermediate spoken and written English (knowledge of Tai-Yai, Burmese or Khmer considered an asset).

Education Background: Minimum of bachelor degree in early childhood education, Education fields, social development or relevant field of study.

 

Experience:

  • Experience as Coordinator, Educator or in relevant fields related to early childhood development, education and social sector (min. 2 years)

  • Ability to understand SAR and the legal registration process (Nursery)

  • Experience with non-profit organizations or in the humanitarian sector will also be strongly considered

 

Other skills/interests: 

  • Dynamic, creative, and demonstrates proven skills to work and engage with children

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a multicultural team

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

  • Ability to provide and receive constructive feedback in a professional manner

  • Highly motivated and flexible 

  • Committed to social work/child welfare and dedicated to the organization’s mission and values

  • Positive energy and spirit and strong communication skills

  • Reliable and respectful of local culture.


 

Working hours:  Full time - Monday to Friday (flexible schedule) and occasionally on weekends & evenings

Salary: To be defined based on experience and qualifications) - Complementary advantages provided (transportation and phone allowance, etc.)
