Background
No More Plastic in Nature Initiative of WWF has launched in 2018 with the goal to stop the plastic leakage into nature by 2030. As aligned with this strategy, the Plastic Smart Cities established to implement the regional project in the 5 countries: Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam, Hong Kong and Thailand. The key objective is to reduce plastic waste leaking into nature by 30% in 2021 through strategies: (1) Policy, (2) Corporate Engagement, (3) Education and Communication and (4) Citizen Science.
A Plastic Smart Cities project of WWF-Thailand “Plastic Smart City approach to reducing marine plastic pollution on Endangered Dugong Habitat Thailand” is currently being implemented in Trang Province and Libong Island and engaged with local communities and the municipalities to reduce plastic waste leakage into ocean and sustainable waste management to support dugong conservation.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Ensure all project activities are delivered on time within the stipulated scope and budget
Develop and manage a detailed work plan to monitor and track the progress of the project
Provide project updates on a consistent basis to the donor about strategy, adjustments, and progress
Lead and provide constructive supervision to the Field Coordinator
Manage contracts with vendors and suppliers by assigning tasks and communicating expected deliverables and monitoring sub-contractors to ensure guidelines are maintained.
Measure project performance to identify areas for improvement
Create and maintain a comprehensive project documentation
Collaborate with WWF Thailand communication team by providing information to promote project activities, accomplishments, and related campaigns.
Manage the budget to be successfully implemented, including all reporting (technical progress report and annual report).
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in environmental science, environmental engineer, environmental technology, environmental management, chemistry science, ecology, natural resource management or other related fields required.
- 5-8 years of project management and related experience
- Work experience on plastic pollution or waste management with local governments and communities
- Strong background on conservation or environmental management project and proposal development.
- Able to collaborate with local government agencies, business, academic, public sectors and local CBOs, CSOs, NGOs with good communication skill.
- Fluent communication in Thai and English.
- Ability to travel on field (Libong Island)
- Proven ability to solve problems creatively
- Experience seeing projects through the full life cycle
- Excellent analytical skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and extremely resourceful
- Proven ability to complete projects according to outlined scope, budget, and timeline
