I . Background

WWF Thailand has been working on freshwater conservation for more than a decade, with activities in support of sustainable water resources management, wetland biodiversity restoration, and adaptive local livelihoods development

WWF Thailand seeks to enhance its role in freshwater restoration and connectivity in recognition of Thailand’s goal of securing freshwater resources to improve River-basin permeability for wide-ranging species and landscape production to respond to sustainable water consumption needs. The incumbent in this position will lead our ongoing activities in the sustainable water resources management sector, design and implement on-the-ground freshwater projects, and identify opportunities for expanded roles for WWF Thailand in the restoration of freshwater ecosystems.

II. Major Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Development, implementation, monitoring, reporting, and evaluation of the “Encourage water management participation in order to restore freshwater ecosystems, improve water quality, and improve local livelihoods along the Lower Prachinburi River in Prachinburi Province
  • Engage with corporate partners in the freshwater and agricultural sectors to map supply chains and commit to WWF-supported certification schemes
  • Implement and monitor work progress as agreed under workplans, including reporting to donors and the organization’s M&E requirements.
  • Ensuring compliance with financial and procurement policies
  • Support the conservation team and other operations teams on issues that pertain to freshwater biodiversity and related fields, or as requested by the Conservation Director or Deputy Conservation Director.
  • Represent WWF Thailand in internal and external meetings as required.
  1. Profile

Required Qualifications ;       

  1. Advanced degree in natural resource/environment-related field.
  2. At least 3 years field experience and water allocation in freshwater ecosystems.
  3. Strong Leadership Skills
  4. Good Planning and Organizing Skills
  5. Ability to set clear goals and objectives
  6. Fluency in written and spoken English and Thai.
  7. Good Communication and Presentation Skills
  8. Ability to motivate others
  9. Strong Commitment to task, ability to cope with varied workload and flexible working hours, and to work independently.
  10. Outgoing, friendly personality.

IV. Working Relationships

  1. Internal : Work closely with other staff members of WWF Thailand Programme
  • Regular contact with Deputy Conservation Director / Freshwater Manager  of Conservation on programme planning, development, capacity-building, representation and funding issues
  • Regular contact with all Unit staff for planning/monitoring
  • Regular contact with Finance Manager, Assistant Deputy Conservation Directors, Fund-raising Manager, and Communications Manager
  • Regular contact with WWF Thailand Country Team members
  1. External: Interacts with donors, government agencies at the central, provincial, district, and township levels, as well as NGO partners, communities, and other stakeholders. 
  1. Reports to: Deputy Conservation Director
