ABOUT SCHOLARS OF SUSTENANCE FOUNDATION (SOS)

Scholars of Sustenance Foundation is the first food rescue foundation in Thailand and was established in 2016. Our mission is to improve food equity in the country by redistributing high-quality surplus food from food-related businesses such as hotels, grocers, restaurants, and other suppliers to communities in need in Bangkok, Phuket, Hua Hin, Chiang Mai, and remote areas in the country every day through our different food programs. Over the past 6 years, we've successfully proven our food rescue model to fight food waste in Thailand by rescuing about 6 million kilograms of surplus food which turned into more than 22 million meals served to over 2,400 communities.   

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

Objectives of the Position

As the Communications and Event Executive, you will play a key role in developing and implementing marketing and communications strategies that promote the values, presence, and works of the Scholars of Sustenance Foundation. You will work to inspire external stakeholders to engage with SOS in order to raise awareness about Food Waste and Hunger issues. This role is varied and fast-paced and includes a wide range of responsibilities, including social media marketing, public relations, and event organization. This position will work in close collaboration with the Outreach Manager. 

Marketing and Communications 

  • Managing social media channels, creating compelling contents, and executing campaigns to engage audiences and build brand awareness.
  • Developing and implementing effective marketing and communications strategies that promote all aspects of SOS's values, presence, and works, and inspire external stakeholders to engage with the organization.
  • Contribute to the development of integrated marketing communications to ensure consistency and coherence across all channels and touchpoints.
  • Ensure all internal and external materials is consistent in tone of voice, messaging, and visual identity, in line with SOS's overall brand guidelines.
  • Protect SOS and partnered brands' reputation through social monitoring, responding to feedback, reviews, and complaints in a timely and professional manner, as well as being part of developing a crisis management plan to mitigate any potential risks.
  • Managing social media marketing analytics, and providing input to the team on what’s the pulse of the public through our social media engagements
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with media outlets and key influencers, pitching stories, and managing press coverage to promote SOS's work and values.
  • Planning and organizing both virtual and in-person events, including fundraising events, awareness-raising events, and other initiatives that are align with SOS's mission and engage key stakeholders.
  • Monitoring and reporting on the effectiveness of marketing communications and event efforts, using data-driven insights to identify areas for improvement and optimize future performance.
  • Collaborating with the Outreach Manager to ensure that all marketing and communications efforts are aligned with SOS's overall outreach and engagement strategy.
  • Manage interns by overseeing their work and offering guidance or direction to ensure that all creative output is of a high standard (if required).
  • Participate in internal and external meetings, presentations, and events as needed to promote SOS's work and values and enhance the organization's overall visibility and reputation.

 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Thai National with fluent written and spoken Thai and English.
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in marketing and communications, preferably within the nonprofit sector with a proven track record of developing and executing successful campaigns.
  • Proficiency in social media platforms namely Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Twitter, with experience managing social media channels and executing social media campaigns.
  • Experience managing social media marketing efforts, including content creation, community management, and analytics tracking.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and effectively.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with a flexible and adaptable approach to problem-solving and a willingness to take on new challenges.
  • Passion for social and environmental justice, with a deep commitment to the mission and values of the Scholars of Sustenance Foundation.

 

KEY RELATIONSHIPS: 

  • Internal: Outreach Manager, Branding and Creative Executive, Central & Regional Fundraising team, Operations Team, and Local Managers
  • External: Strategic SOS Partners, Media Partner, Event Organizers, and Marketing Suppliers

 

WORK TIME: 

  • 40 hours a week, must be able to work some evenings and weekends.
  • 10 days of vacation and 14 public holidays.
  • Sick leave with doctor’s proof after a 3-day period, up to maximum of 30 days.
  • Probation period of 90 days.

 

COMPENSATION: 

  • Negotiable based on experience.
  • Health coverage after probation period of 90 days.

 

LOCATIONS:

  • FREC Buillding, 77 Lan Luang Rd, Khwaeng Wat Sommanat, Khet Pom Prap Sattru Phai, Krung Thep Maha Nakhon 10100.
