1. Background of services assignment/ project

WWF-SR4SH project entitled “Stronger Supply Chains, Empowered Communities, Improved Forest Resilience and Biodiversity, & Knowledge Sharing Beyond Borders” has developed the Sustainable Rubber for Smallholders (SR4SH) handbook in Thai version as training material to support sustainable rubber plantation managed by Thai small rubber holders. The handbook was used as a tool assisting small rubber farmers to access to the Forest Stewardship Council's Forest Management Standards. The handbook in Thai version has been using by key smallholders who participated in the SR4SH project. The Rubber Authority of Thailand (RAOT) had adopted the criteria provided in the SR4SH handbook as a key tool to achieve their FSC certified rubber plantations target. The authority is planning to produce 30,000 copies, and use them as the main training materials for e-training courses planned by the authority.

In order to replicate the implementation of the criteria for sustainable rubber management provided by this training manual in other greater mekong regions, the project has translated this manual into English since June 2023. As of July 2023, the project is planning to produce the SR4SH handbook in English version. The project is expecting the printing process to be completed before the closing of the project in August 2023. The copies of the training manual in English version will be shared within the WWF greater mekong countries.

The project is now looking for professional services from experts who will assist the project in designing, ensuring the high-quality printing layout, and finalising a layout and printing the manual in English version rubber management.

2.         Objective of the Services

1.    To design a layout of SR4SH handbook.

2.    To finalise an accurate lay-out of the handbook, approve fonts, selecting suitable image solutions, ensure precise colours and file name before the printing          

3.    To deliver high quality printed handbooks.

3.  Scope of work/ Major responsibility

The experts will ensure 2 parts of the printing process: 1) Booklet’s artwork and layout designing and 2) Book printing and delivery.

            1)      Booklet’s artwork and layout designing:

The expert is expected to create a printing layout in reader friendly scheme for the SR4SH handbook -English version (approx. 200 pages). The project provides all of the content which has been translated in English, figures, and animation which has been created already under the Thai version.

               2)     Booklet printing and delivery

The expert is expected to ensure that the handbook will be printed at about 300-500 copies in total. The printed copies are to be delivered to WWF at WWF’s office.

4.         Outputs/ deliverable of performance and time schedule

*Delivered to WWF-Thailand’s office. The place can be changed depends on the agreement from both parties.
