Established in 1951, IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. 1.ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT AND SCOPE:
Under the direct supervision of the Information Management Officer and the overall supervision of the Head of the Migration Data & Research Unit (MDRU) in Bangkok, the successful candidate will provide operational support to the establishment and implementation of the unit data collection and related research activities across various project sites in Thailand.
2.RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
The successful candidate will have the following duties and responsibilities:
- Provide support to all MDRU data collection operations, including assessments and surveys, in different provinces where activities are implemented;
- Undertake regular travel to different project locations to support data collection exercises
- Assist in coordinating with enumerators in the field for project implementation activities, such as organizing work schedules, dispatching enumerators to assessed locations, ensuring timely submission of assessments and surveys, and helping to implement quality control checks.
- Assist in direct data collection, including through key informant consultations, Focus Group Discussions and surveys.
- Support in the identification, recruitment and training of enumerators, and regularly monitor performance during data collection and quality of collected data;
- Assist in liaising with local authorities, NGO partners, other UN agencies, civil society and migrant communities to build and maintain a strong data collection/sharing and key informant network.
- Provide administrative support to MDRU operations, including with regards to keeping adequate attendance sheets and other records related to project expenditures and payments for enumerators.
- Assist in keeping an updated tracking of equipment, including tablets and other tools temporarily assigned to enumerators and partners.
- Support the regular adjustment and improvement of MDRU activities in relation to the evolving situation and operations in the field, including by identifying gaps and solutions to existing challenges.
- Perform such duties and travels as may be assigned by the direct supervisor.
3.QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
EDUCATION
- School diploma with four years of relevant experience; or
- University degree in social sciences, law, political science with two years of working experience in related field.
EXPERIENCE
- Experience in activities comparable to those outlined in the ToR, preferably with an international or intergovernmental organization working on issues related to migrants and vulnerable populations in Thailand;
- Experience in liaising with government officials and in coordinating activities with NGOs and government partners is highly desired;
- Experience in organizing and coordinating workshops and trainings;
- Flexibility to travel for extended periods of time to the field, including over the weekend, is essential for this position.

4.LANGUAGES
- Fluency in English and Thai (oral and written) is required.
- Knowledge of Burmese, Laotian or Cambodian is desirable.
