Job Description
Background/IRC Summary:
The International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises, helping to restore health, safety, education, economic well-being, and power to people devastated by conflict and disaster. Founded in 1933 at the call of Albert Einstein, the IRC is at work in over 40 countries and 26 U.S. cities helping people to survive, reclaim control of their future and strengthen their communities. The IRC has been operating in Thailand since 1975 and currently provides assistance to displaced persons in Tak, Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi, and Mae Hong Son provinces.
IRC Thailand launched the Preparedness for Protection in Southeast Asia (PPSEA) in July 2021, which was partially implemented in Pattani, Yala, and Narathiwat provinces. The project aims to strengthen the protection response capacities of local disaster preparedness ecosystems and enhance protection risk reduction activities, including violence prevention at a community level. In partnership with the Thailand Association of Social Workers (TASW), this project focuses to support capacity and coordination among local authorities and the communities to prepare and respond to the protection needs of the communities and marginalize people in the deep south provinces of Thailand.
Job Overview/Summary:
Under the direct supervision of the Senior Protection Project Manager, the Protection Program Assistant will support the implementation of the IRC’s PPSEA project and ensure that the lesson learned during the project implementation, project progress, and essential data and information will be collected and recorded appropriately to ensure the quality, timely, accuracy, and utility of the information in support of the implementation of the project activities.
Major Responsibilities:
• Take notes and record all the project activities including but not limited to training, workshop, meeting, conference, etc.
• Produce activity reports and information visualization in consultation with project team members.
• Organize and maintain records of activity reports, project reports, and other relevant documents.
• Assist with preparing project progress reports and Information, Education, and Communication material to share with local authorities, communities, and stakeholders.
• Update project data and information in the database.
• Update and maintain the project indicator tracking sheet.
• Conduct data and information verification in collaboration with project team members.
• Working closely with the Senior Protection Project Manager and M&E Coordinator to strengthen the M&E system of the project.
• Other duties as assigned.

Other Internal and/or external contacts:
Internal: PPSEA project staff, M&E Coordinator, Senior Information Management Manager, and other Protection and Empowerment team members.
External: The Thailand Association of Social Workers staff and other partner staff.
Qualifications
Job Requirements:
Education: A university degree in a relevant field (such as computer, statistics & data management, social science, public health, social work, development, or a related subject area)
Work Experience:
• Minimum one year of work experience in the development organization, community-based activities, community development work, or social work.
• Proven to have acceptable experience in notetaking for training, workshop, meeting, and conference.
• Proven to have acceptable experience in report writing.
• Proven to have acceptable experience in data collection, data recording, or research assistant experience.
Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:
• Excellent note-taking and report-writing skills.
• Demonstrated analytical, systematic-thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Solution-oriented committed, and good communication skills to work smoothly with colleagues from various cultures and backgrounds.
• Highly organized, flexible, and adaptable to changing priorities.
• Able to work well under deadlines with minimum supervision.
• Proficiency and experience with Canva, PowerPoint, Microsoft Excel, Access, or other similar software/programs.
Language Skills:
• Excellent Thai writing skills
• Moderate in English
• Being able to use the local Malayu language will be a benefit.
Working Environment:
The Protection Program Assistant should be living in one of the project locations including, Pattani, Yala, and Narathiwat provinces. All the project staff of the PPSEA project is mostly working from home with frequent travel to the project locations. The team will closely work online from home for the preparation of project activities.
