Malteser International is a German non-governmental organization providing humanitarian assistance and development aid for people in need in over 20 countries. Malteser International is currently working with temporary shelters in Sob-Moei district, Mae Hong Son province in Thailand. Our office located in Mae Sariang is looking for an efficient, motivated and experienced Thai national for the position as Field Assistant (2 Positions).  

Duty Station:             Mae Sariang town, Mae Hong Son province

Work locations:         Mae Sariang and Sob-Moei Districts within the field

Duration:                   Until 31 July 2024 (with possibilities to extend)

Salary range:             18,000 THB (+benefits)

Main Responsibilities and Duties

1. Plan and conduct Health and WASH need assessment with the project team in target locations.
2. Plan, implement, and monitor WASH and Health Care services in different project together with project team.
3. Coordinate activities (water supply installation, latrine construction, water treatment, health and hygiene promotion, and delivering of primary health care services) with beneficiary representatives, relevant Thai authorities, and NGOs at field level.
4. Identify volunteers from project target locations and train them to maintain water supply and sanitation facilities.
5. Work with the project team to conduct hygiene promotion sessions in project target locations.
6. Collect community feedback related to health and WASH services and report to Supervisor.
7. Collect field data and report daily, weekly, and monthly basis as advice by supervisor.
8. Provide technical assistance for logistical arrangement for activities and events.

Essential Qualifications/Skills:

1. Higher education of equivalent with field experience on Public Health or related field.
2. Basic experience of maintaining small water supply systems in emergency setting.
3. Previous experience conducting health and WASH related assessments in emergency settings.
4. Basic knowledge and skills on promoting good hygiene practices in emergency settings.
5. Previous working experience with (I)NGOs, CBOs, and WASH components
6. Fluent in speaking, reading, and writing Thai and/or Sgaw Karen, Karenni, Burmese
