Malteser International is a German non-governmental organization providing humanitarian assistance and development aid for people in need in over 20 countries. Malteser International is currently working with temporary shelters in Sob-Moei district, Mae Hong Son province in Thailand. Our office located in Mae Sariang is looking for an efficient, motivated and experienced Thai national for the position as WASH Assistant (1 Positions).  

Duty Station:             Mae Sariang town, Mae Hong Son province

Work locations:         Mae Sariang and Sob-Moei Districts within the field

Duration:                   Until 31 July 2024 (with possibilities to extend)

Salary range:             18,000 THB (+benefits)

Main Responsibilities and Duties

1. Assist WASH Officer on planning, implementing, and coordinating of water supply and sanitation facilities in target location.
2. Assist to WASH Officer to design and set up water supply, sanitation facilities, and solid waste management systems according to SPHERE guidelines and access to person with special needs.
3. Supervise workers to construct, water distribution network, sanitation facilities.
4.  Assist WASH Officer to prepare Bill of Quantities and materials list for water supply, sanitation, waste management in project target location.
5. Set up water treatment and water quality monitoring SOPs and application suitable to target area.
6. Assist in developing guidelines for adequate operation and maintenance of WASH and health facilities linked to the activities carried out.
7. Provide technical assistance for logistical arrangement for activities and events.
8. Preparation budget for activities.
9. Ensure proper procedures followed in handling cash advances and settle in a timely manner.

Essential Qualifications/Skills:

1. Higher education or equivalent with field experience on Public Health or related field.
2. Specific experience in water supply and sanitation issues in Thai rural setting.
3. Basic knowledge and field experience developing BOQs and constructing building by using locally available construction materials.
4. Knowledge and experience of water treatment and water quality testing.
5. Facilitation skills in related to conducting community assessment, organizing, and leading workshops/training.
6. Fluent in speaking, reading, and writing Thai and/or Sgaw Karen, Karenni, Burmese
