Position Description

POSITION TITLE: Gender Equality & Social Inclusion (GESI) Specialist, USAID Asia CTIP Program

LOCATION: Bangkok, Thailand

DEPARTMENT: Human Rights, Education, and Empowerment

REPORTS TO: Chief of Party, USAID Asia CTIP Program

STATUS: Full-time, 1 year (depending on the availability of fund)     

START DATE: ASAP

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

Winrock International is recruiting applicants for the Gender Equality & Social Inclusion (GESI) Officer position for the USAID Asia Trafficking in Persons (CTIP) project. The USAID Asia CTIP program is a seven-year    regional initiative aimed at addressing human trafficking risks, providing appropriate responses that transcend borders, and protecting the rights of vulnerable and trafficked persons. The USAID Asia CTIP program is implemented by Winrock International. The program addresses human trafficking in Asia through activities conducted under three components: Force Multiplier 1 (FM1): Strengthening learning around trafficking in persons and interventions; Force Multiplier 2 (FM2): Improving coordination and cooperation between source, transit and destination countries; and Force Multiplier 3 (FM3): Leveraging private sector engagement to reduce trafficking in persons in target sectors.

The GESI Specialist will support the USAID Asia CTIP project to technical program staff to integrate gender and inclusion of marginalized groups in the Asia region and ensure that gender-responsive strategies and actions are developed and implemented. The GESI Specialist will work with the previously developed GESI Framework and GESI Toolkit developed by USAID Asia CTIP and all FMs by identifying and addressing barriers faced by marginalized groups, including but not limited to persons with disabilities, ethnic and religious minorities, and LGBTQ+ individuals. S/he will work together with the team members to develop strategies and guidelines to mitigate social discrimination and lead the efforts to mainstream gender considerations throughout the USAID Asia CTIP’s activities.

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

The GESI Specialist will be responsible for leading GESI-related initiatives and activities for USAID Asia CTIP, including but not limited to the following:

  • Develop GESI strategies and guidelines to support gender-responsive strategies and actions throughout the CTIP projects in the region.
  • Lead on developing and incorporating tools and materials to effectively integrate a gender equality and social inclusion framework within CTIP projects in Asia.
  • Collaborate with other projects, stakeholders and partners to identify needs and provide support to streamline GESI considerations throughout the program design, implementation and evaluation process.
  • Conduct capacity building activities to support CTIP projects and stakeholders' understanding of gender equality and social inclusion concepts and practices. Provide training sessions, workshops, and guidance on integrating GESI principles into program design, implementation, and monitoring.
  • Engage with relevant stakeholders, civil society organizations, private sector and community groups, to foster partnerships and collaborations that advance gender equality and social inclusion objectives.
  • Collaborate with the monitoring and evaluation team to develop gender-responsive indicators and methodologies for measuring the impact of the project on gender equality and social inclusion. Contribute to the project’s workplan, quarterly and annual report.
  • Support the activities to empower migrant domestic workers in destination countries and assist in monitoring and documenting the results.
  • Complete other tasks as assigned by Winrock
     

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: Degree in gender studies, international development, social science, political science, human rights, or another related field
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience in gender, social inclusion, and/or work with marginalized populations in South and Southeast Asia and Central Asia
  • Computer/Technical Skills: Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software (Microsoft Office Suite)
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and oral communications
  • Language: Fluent English speaking and writing skills required
     

 Position-Specific Skills:

  • Demonstrated ability to provide policy and programmatic advice to development projects on GESI issues.
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills, creative problem solving, and conflict management skills.
  • Demonstrated skills on preparing quality reports and other knowledge products.
  • This position is opened for a Thai National Only.
