RECOFTC is inviting candidates to apply for the position of Project Coordinator for the “Networking Women in Community Forestry for Stronger Climate Action” project under the Thailand Office. The project is funded by the Save the Children and implemented by RECOFTC in Thailand. The successful applicant will be based in Bangkok with frequent traveling to several provinces in Thailand. The contract’s duration is for 16 months. The position is for Thai nationals only.
About the project
We aim to strengthen women’s leadership in community forest management to promote gender sensitive and Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM)-based climate adaption in Thailand. The project will work with women community forest (CF) leaders from 10 CFs to develop and implement STEM-based climate adaptation initiatives through community forest management. The project also will develop financial mechanisms and information technology tools to implement the initiatives and raise funds.
Specific tasks and duties
The Project Coordinator is a member of the RECOFTC Thailand team and works under the supervision of the Country Director, RECOFTC Thailand. The Project Coordinator is responsible for the planning, managing and reporting on the implementation of the project, as well as delivering all project outputs.
Specific duties and responsibilities include:
In consultation with the country director, develop project work plans
Liaise with women leaders and project partners as well as other relevant stakeholders to implement the project activities and achieve the project objectives
Conduct and facilitate meetings and training events according to the work plan
Prepare project progress reports following project schedule and donor requirements
Work with the communication officer to prepare communication products and document the project results
Manage the project budget and, in cooperation with the country director and accounts and administrative officer RECOFTC Thailand, ensure financial reporting is prepared and submitted on established deadlines
Work with the monitoring, evaluation and learning focal person to report outputs and outcomes of the project
Coordinate with and support other related projects of RECOFTC and perform any other tasks assigned by the RECOFTC Thailand country director
Qualifications and experience
The Project Coordinator will have the following essential and desirable qualifications and experience:
Essential
Bachelor’s degree in natural resource management, forest management, environment and related fields including social sciences
At least five years’ experience in managing projects on natural resource management, preferably smallholder forest management
Good knowledge and understanding of forestry, rural development context and relevant issues, including those linked with forest, climate change and livelihood development in Thailand
Experience in coordinating and facilitating women networks and strong community engagement
Knowledge and experience on approaches to promote gender equity and social inclusion
Ability to prioritize, plan, lead and organize work with minimum supervision
Good written and spoken Thai, and working knowledge of English
Willingness to travel frequently to the project field sites
Thai national
Desirable
Master’s degree in natural resource management, forest management, environment and related fields including economics and business management
Knowledge of / experience in microfinancing or community based financial management
Knowledge of / experience with spatial data and GIS technologies
