I. Major Function
The GIS officer provides support to the EoF Project Manager framework for survey, gathering, managing, analyzing and reporting the geospatial data and developing researching and implementing modern methodology for GIS framework as well as others relevant.
II. Major Responsibilities
A. Project Implementation
- Assist for all ground surveying, GIS and spatial analysis works and technical solutions related to Eyes on The Forest Project (EoF), The Dawna-Tenasserim Landscape (DTL Thai side), WWF Thailand.
- Produce yearly forest fragmentation, forest/non-forest condition map coverage of all EoF project site.
- Assist the development and implementation of the deforestation monitoring system for EoF project.
- Support on UAV flight planning and operation for aerial survey activities to projects and relevant tasks as required.
- Assist the field ground-truthing in Remote Sensing tasks and join working with local stakeholder technical support and spatial analysis techniques of field activities as
- Assist the knowledge dissemination process and field training to contribute for all relevant practice programs as required.
- Information update on the activities to the EoF project manager as needed.
- Maintain an awareness of staff comments and any complaints to identify any areas that may need the development of improvement
- Coordinate with government and private sectors to gather GIS data related to project.
B. Partnership Development and Networking
- Establish relations and keep regular contact with key partners (multi-sectoral, government and non-government) at local, national and regional levels (for implementation and networking/lessons sharing
- Meet with Government counterparts, establish and convene regular meetings of the project steering committee when required
- Ensure good and close liaison in collaboration with project network, stakeholders and othervWWF projects
- Develop and maintain effective contacts with a wide range of external contacts withvorganizations and individuals who can assist in the conservation activities
C. Communications
- Provide support to the development of press release/conference on results of project
- Provide inputs to communications products, materials, and campaigns to ensure accurate information of the project when required
D. People Management
- Work with the Project Manager and counterpart on the capacity building of key counterparts
E. Monitoring and Evaluation, Reporting
- Assist in the preparation of progress reports to monitor all technical, financial and administrative aspects on the utilization and impact of all resources made available to the project
- Assist the dissemination of the technical report among the public sector institutions and regulatory bodies

III. Working Relationships
a) Internal: Work in close collaboration with project staff, another staff member of the WWF
Thailand Programme.
- Correspondence with project manager in planning and working in the project.
- Correspondence with colleagues in the team.
- Correspondence with colleagues within the WWF organization in order to exchange knowledge, share and learn the duties.
- Participate in the events organized by WWF activities as needed.
b) External: Liaise and work with Government agencies, donors, communities, partners, private sectors, consultants and international and local NGOs
Requirements
- Male/Female, Bachelor’s degree in forestry, geography, geoinformatics and remote sensing or relevant field.
