Human rights project manager / consultant (full time)

Peterson Projects & Solutions [Thailand] Co., Ltd. is looking for human rights consultant to support its consultancy team.

 

For this position, Peterson is seeking a pro-active, English-speaking professional. As a consultant you, will support with the coordination and implementation of international projects. Peterson Projects & Solutions works with governments, corporations, and NGOs to find trustworthy solutions for their social and environmental sustainability challenges.

In this role, you will support the management and coordination of projects and programs specifically focused on the human rights and social impact aspects of our work. Your primarily responsibility will be project management of all aspects of  field-level implementation of these projects, along with related activities such as developing and conducting/coordinating trainings, assessments, field visits, and reports. This role will report to the senior consultant(s) managing individual programs; and to the Managing Director.

This role requires excellent English writing and oral communication skills. The ideal candidate will be comfortable with thinking creatively to solve issues and will be motivated to respond nimbly to internal and external requests.

This role will work closely with colleagues and clients based in the U.S. Eastern time zone. You will be expected to make yourself available for regular (approximately weekly) evening calls. This role will collaborate with colleagues around the world on both new and existing projects.

 

Travel

The role may require some travel within Thailand and within the Asia-Pacific region.

 

Profile

We are specifically looking for someone with excellent English communication skills a keen interest in human rights topics. The candidate should be flexible to work on various projects with different teams across a variety of sectors and supply chain tiers.

 

Candidate qualifications (required)

  • University undergraduate-level degree in policy, development, global business, anthropology, economics or related fields
  • Work experience of 8+ years
  • Expertise in developing research design/methods related to social sciences
  • Strong project coordination and implementation skills (especially designing projects and deploying field teams)
  • Experience with program development and administration (budgeting, staffing/coordination, milestone setting)
  • Applied experience in monitoring, evaluation, and learning (ME/L) projects
  • Familiarity with key relevant topics such as governance, gender, DEI, migrant vulnerabilities, forced labor, child labor
  • Familiarity with key relevant frameworks such as the UN Guiding Principles, OECD Guidelines for Responsible Business Conduct, ILO Conventions, etc.
  • A self-starter and agile facilitator, taking initiative to get projects going and ensure progress
  • Strong meeting/event planning and facilitation skills
  • Curiosity about the world and sensitivity to working in cross-cultural, cross-functional teams
  • Fluency in English is a must as this role will support key clients based in the United States
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office suite

 

Candidate qualifications (preferred)

  • Experience with food/beverage/FMCG supply chains
  • Applied experience in key relevant topics such as governance, gender, DEI, migrant vulnerabilities, forced labor, child labor
  • Applied experience using key relevant frameworks such as the UN Guiding Principles, OECD Guidelines for Responsible Business Conduct, ILO Conventions, etc.
  • University graduate-level degree in policy, development, global business, anthropology, economics or related fields
  • Experience working with Chinese producers of agricultural/food/beverage goods
  • Experience working with US- or European-based buyers of Asia-sourced goods
  • Experience developing and delivering internal and external training and capacity building
  • Proficiency in Mandarin
