Major Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Work in close coordination with Department of National Parks, Wildlife, and Plant Conservation and the Royal Forest Department to identity and prioritize habitat linkages between protected areas and develop holistic programs to maintain or improve forest conditions to ensure future wildlife movement. Activities may include community conservation, support for RFD forest protection, identification of OECMs (Other Effective Area-Based Conservation Measures), geospatial monitoring, designation of protected areas, habitat restoration, and support for community conservation.
  • Design and implement forest ecosystem restoration projects.
  • Oversee existing and future  Natural Rubber / Palm oil programs related to certification,  supply chain transparency, and smallholder rights.
  • Liaise with the WWF Asia Pacific/Greater Mekong Forest Hub and the WWF-International Forest Practice program on regional and global forest issues.

 

Required Qualifications 

  •  Master's degree or Ph.D. in forestry, forest ecology, wildlife conservation, forest restoration, or related fields. 
  •  7 years of research and/or project management of complex forest conservation projects involving multi-stakeholders; connectivity conservation experience highly desirable.
  • Understanding of forest ecosystem characteristics, threats, and conservation opportunities in Thailand, if possible including familiarity with forest policy and management approaches used by the Royal Forest Department and Department of National Parks, Wildlife, and Plant Conservation.
  • Knowledge of forest certification and forest industry supply chains.
  • Proven experience in Project Management and Proposal Development.
  • Experience in conducting site assessment, design, and implementation of on-the-ground forest restoration projects using the full range of passive and active approaches.
  • Knowledge of policy tools used to protect and restore forest landscapes, including REDD+ and Other Effective Conservation Measures (OECM)
  • Fluent in English and Intermediate or better Thai.
