AGO is delighted to introduce you to the Daybreaker Network: A social & interactive knowledge space that hopes to democratize human rights knowledge across Thailand and make it open and accessible to all.

Our objectives are to:

• Transform the human rights learning experience, to make it engaging and scalable
• Accelerate sustainable capacity-building across all key human rights practice areas and across the entire country
• Become a catalyst for social innovation, democratic participation and the promotion of social justice in Thailand

To serve this purpose, all members of the platform will be invited to: connect with fellow human rights defenders from all over Thailand, share news between members and coordinate on the ground actions, learn from trainings led by recognized NGOs and participate in online and in person events/ solidarity actions frequently organized by the Daybreaker Network.

We are just getting started on this journey. Our first step is to validate some initial hypotheses by launching a few pilots around specific human rights topics in partnership with local organizations and experts. Initial investigated topics are around:

• A trial observation learning space
• A self-expression learning space
• A brand strategy learning space, informed by AGO expertise and enriched by local experts
• A fundraising learning space, informed by AGO expertise and enriched by local experts

Each learning space will be live for a month and will include between 30-60 participants. All of them will be facilitated in Thai.

As a result, AGO is hiring a few roles, including an AGO community organizer, as described below.

Role overview

• The AGO community organizer will be a self starter who has experience or education in human rights and/ or community organizing.
• They  will manage the pilot phase end to end. Main functions will include: manage and engage participants, liaise with recruited knowledge experts, manage the knowledge & content, organize and manage events, and relay important insight from what is happening in the community during the pilot.
• They will be the bridge with the AGO core team, the local partners, the local experts  and the participants during the live pilot phase and in continuous communication with the different stakeholders.
• They will shadow the pilot partners management process to progressively take the lead on managing participants attendance and report delivery.

Mandatory skills:

• Fluent in Thai and English
• Monitor the situation of rights violations and political developments in Thailand
• Background in law and society is a must
• Skilled in community organizing and management
• Skilled in project management
• Skilled in data analysis, insight gathering and communication
• Technology-savvy and ready to learn how to use new digital tools
• Knowledge of Slack & Zoom preferred, but will receive accelerated training if needed

Time commitment:

• Full time contract role to be hired by AGO
• Will be contracted as soon as possible until april 2024, with goal of extending long term

Detailed role description by pilot phase:

During pilot design ( January-February 2024)

• Shadow lead partners
to understand their existing process (could be trial observation, freedom of expression workshops, fundraising and brand-strategy…)
• Participate in key meetings with AGO and lead partners to align on: curriculum, recruitment set up and content to be uploaded on the network (AGO team to come to Thailand in November)

During live pilots (note that not every pilot will start and finish at the same time, but we estimate that the 4 pilots will be finished by end of March 2024)

• Organize participants’ sign up and introduction to the program
• Engage & manage participants end to end (follow up on quizz, homeworks, attendance to meetings & events)
• Manage knowledge content & schedule
• Give frequent feedback to AGO and pilot partners
• Answer any potential question from participants
• Identify material to share with participants throughout the process (videos, articles…)
• Set up and share activities calendar
• Manage the learning process meetings (connecting zoom, aligning with experts/ lead partners schedule) as well as internal meetings (between themselves, lead partners, AGO team)
• Gather learnings for next iteration

Post live pilot, April 2024

• Meetings & Workshops with AGO to discuss learnings and plan for following iterations:
  • 1 online workshop to discuss learnings and feedback
  • 1 face to face workshop to plan for next iterations
