Scope of work

The consultant will work remotely to provide GIS technical support to both WWF Thailand in mapping land tenure within the Dawna-Tenasserim Landscape and to the Office of Natural and Environment Policy and Planning (ONEP) and IUCN Thailand on GIS-based Spatial Landscape Mapping to identify a potential OECM sites across Thailand. 

Specific tasks 

• Gathering GIS data relevant to the Thailand 30 by 30 – OECM planning process from all sources
• Preparation of documents for official coordination with government agencies to request GIS data.
• Technical support for GIS-based Spatial Landscape Mapping to identify an prioritize potential sites for OECMs in Thailand. 
• Coordinate closely with WWF Thailand 30 by 30 – OECMs Senior Program Manager.
• Provide periodic GIS technical support for meetings of the Thailand OECM Specialist Group.
• Conduct field ground-truthing of remote sensing products and provide technical support to local stakeholders.
• Support other assignments as needed in the context of GIS operations  and coordination.

Validity

January – June 2024 (six months)

Directly reports to

Senior Program Manager: 30 by 30 – OECMs

Location and travel

Remote work with occasional travel to Bangkok to support meetings of the Thailand OECM Specialist Group. Travel and accommodation costs will be reimbursed  separately from monthly consultancy fee.
