POSITION: Teacher Education Specialist

LOCATION: Mae Sot, Tak, Thailand

TYPE: Full Time

CONTRACT LENGTH: Full Time (pending 3-month probation review)

REPORTS TO: Director

START DATE: As soon as possible

DESCRIPTION

For high-quality, inclusive, and equitable educational opportunities (as outlined in UNESCO's 4th Sustainable Development Goal) to be provided for all children, InEd looks to close the gap through contextualized capacity building, educational system strengthening, community-based solutions, and data-driven advocacy. Through ongoing research, we seek to continually improve our projects and evidence both our impact and the challenges faced in marginalized communities. We believe research is a powerful advocacy tool and we are continually building partnerships with universities to further our impact. We also want to give back to communities in need. Through fundraising, we are committed to responding to needs in our communities as they arise: ensuring we stay relevant and always listening to community voices.

Based in Mae Sot, Thailand, the Teacher Education Specialist works across multiple projects to provide technical support regarding the training and ongoing support of teachers. InEd integrates research across all projects both for internal learning and external advocacy. The Teacher Education Specialist is expected to provide leadership in designing research to generate a strong base of evidence needed for learning and engagement. This role may require travel to locations throughout Thailand and the ability to work in close collaboration with a wide variety of educational stakeholders.

 

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supporting the development of resources for teachers: observation tools, competency frameworks, training modules, and digital materials
  • Providing technical support and guidance in the planning and implementation of education support projects, specifically teacher capacity building
  • Co-designing and conducting educational research regarding the following topics: Multilingual

teacher competencies, and Teacher competencies needed in emergency settings

  • Co-designing educational trainings and workshops (both face-to-face and online) in close collaboration with staff and education partners
  • Contributing to the development and design of high-quality project proposals, activity work plans, and reports
  • Supervising the delivery of field work and provide mentoring, coaching, and structured professional development

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS/ EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor degree in education, social science, development, or a related field
  • Minimum of two years of experience in the education/research field, ideally in or focused on Education in Emergencies
  • Some experience conducting educational research
  • Advanced/academic level of English
  • Strong technical knowledge of teacher professional development approaches
  • Demonstrated ability to support and develop a team to deliver results
  • Experience working with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Demonstrated ability to create strong and productive professional relationships, both internally and with community-based organizations, partner NGOs, government agencies and local communities
  • Proven sound strategic thinking and planning skills, including ability to think creatively and be
    innovative, set priorities, manage work plans, and evaluate progress

 

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS/ EXPERIENCE

  • Masters in education, social science, development or related field
  • Experience supporting the development of creative media resources including videos, visual aids, and presentations
  • Knowledge of education related issues in Thailand, Myanmar and Southeast Asia more broadly
  • Fluency in Thai and/or Myanmar languages
