Volunteer for Elephant Day - Elephant Conservation Initiative

 

Location: Kanchanaburi and Bangkok, Thailand

Duration: Two Months (4 days a week, in office Kanchanaburi)

Allowance: 8,000THB per month

 

The Zoological Society of London (ZSL) is a world-renowned conservation charity dedicated to the global conservation of animals and their habitats. Founded in 1826, ZSL has been at the forefront of wildlife science and conservation for nearly two centuries, operating both the ZSL London Zoo and ZSL Whipsnade Zoo, alongside its conservation projects in over 50 countries. ZSL's mission is to promote and achieve the worldwide conservation of animals and their habitats, driven by ground-breaking research, active conservation projects, and engaging educational programs. With a focus on science-based solutions, ZSL collaborates with local communities, governments, and other organizations to protect and restore wildlife, address the challenges of climate change, and ensure a sustainable future for both people and wildlife.

 

About the Role:

The Zoological Society of London - Thailand is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic volunteer to join our team for the upcoming Elephant Day event, held in conjunction with Thai National Elephant Day on 13 March. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to elephant conservation efforts in Thailand and gain hands-on experience in organizing significant conservation education and awareness events in partnership with Thai PBS and HEVN (Eco exist Society). This role will be working closely with Program Coordinator, Project Manager and Project Officer and under the close supervision of Project Manager.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the conservation team in planning, preparing, and organizing multiple events for Elephant Day in partnership with Thai PBS and HEVN (Eco exist Society).
  • Coordinate with various stakeholders, including staff, local communities, media partners, and other volunteers.
  • Help in setting up event venues, managing logistics, and ensuring smooth execution on the day.
  • Participate in educational and awareness activities related to elephant conservation.
  • Provide administrative support, including documentation, managing emails, and other office-related tasks.
  • Engage with attendees and provide information about the event and our conservation efforts.

 

Qualifications:

  • A passion for wildlife conservation, particularly elephant conservation.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in an office setting or related field.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing tasks and schedules.
  • Basic understanding of environmental conservation and sustainability is a plus.
  • Able to speak Thai and English would be an assets.
