POSITION SUMMARY
Under BDF’s Pillar 2: Community Empowerment, we are currently seeking a dedicated and passionate Health Literacy Empowerment Project Manager to join our dynamic team for the “Building Bridges to Better Health Outcomes for Migrant Workers and their Children in Thai Construction Sector” Project. This new Project is expected to start early 2024, and aims to address crucial issues concerning access to health services in construction site camps in Chiang Mai. The Project will also aim at improving the health literacy of migrant workers and their children living in the construction site camps.
Job Description
Job Title: Health Literacy Empowerment Project Manager
Type of Contract: Full-time employment position for 1-year (with possibility of extension)
Department: Program Department
Location: Chiang Mai, Thailand (with occasional work trips to Bangkok)
Expected Start Date: ASAP or latest by February 2024
Roles and responsibilities include but are not limited to
PROJECT COORDINATION AND SUPERVISION
Timely planning of project activities for implementation as per the Project timeline
Develop and execute health literacy empowerment projects from inception to completion
Supervise, oversee and support the entire Project Team, comprising of a Health Literacy Empowerment Officer and relevant consultants
Oversee and manage overall Project budget
Provide monthly Project highlight to BDF’s Senior Management Team
Coordinate with other BDF’s Programs (such as the Child Protection Program, Child Development Program, Community Empowerment Program, and the Building Social Impact (BSI)) to ensure synergy
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, local community partners, and healthcare professionals to achieve project goals
Develop external networks and relationships with local partners as relevant to the Project
PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION AND MONITORING
Create and develop appropriate tools to address the needs of the communities in close coordination with the Senior Management Team, Program Quality Coordinator, Monitoring and evaluation Coordinator, and Consultants.
Monitor the timely implementation of the project activities and ensure alignment with BDF’s Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy, ethical standards, and best practices.
Design and deliver educational programs to enhance health literacy skills among migrant populations.
Monitor and evaluate the impact of health literacy initiatives, adjusting strategies as needed
Support the Project Team in the effective and efficient implementation of Project activities, which includes but is not limited to the following:
Identification and training of the Health Focal Points
Design and develop relevant training modules
Organize participatory workshops with Health Focal Points and community members
Organize training and follow up with the participants
Coordinate with public health services
Organize workshops with companies
Timely update and implementation of the Details Implementation Plan (DIP) for the Project
Work with the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Team to ensure Project quality and impact.
Record and monitor quantitative and qualitative data on BDF’s activities, following BDF’s standardized M&E processes
Accurate communication of information collected from the beneficiaries to the Team
PROJECT REPORTING
Ensure timely and accurate reporting on the Project activities and implementation, including budget, to the Finance and Partnerships Teams.
QUALIFICATIONS
Nationality: Thai nationality
Language requirements: Excellent command of written and spoken in both English and Thai. The ability to speak Burmese is considered to be an asset.
Working hours: Full time - Monday to Friday with occasional weekends and evenings
Remuneration: To be defined based on experience and qualifications
Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s and/or higher-level degree in Public Health, International Development, Health Science, Health Communication, Community Health, Health Education, Social Work, etc
Experience in working with Government and/or Non-Governmental Organisations
Experience in working on health projects
Other skills and competencies:
Ability to work and live in a multicultural, fast-paced environment
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines
Ability to compile and analyze information independently
Ability to work effectively independently and within a team environment
Good communication and problem-solving skills
Good training and presentation skills
