The FLR349 Project aims to restore forest landscapes, create sustainable livelihoods for farmers in upland and non-arable areas, and promote food security. The approach involves providing support in terms of knowledge and budget to farmers to transition from high-input, chemical monocrop agriculture, such as corn cultivation for livestock feed, which has adverse effects on the environment and low economic sustainability, towards nature-friendly agriculture. This includes planting and managing perennial forests, fruit trees, vegetables, diverse medicinal herbs suitable for local ecosystems and climates, leading to the restoration of degraded environments from deforestation and soil erosion. The project focuses on restoring ecosystems, biodiversity, carbon and water retention, and supporting diverse and safe food production and consumption. It aims to strengthen farmers' and communities' self-reliance, reduce livelihood expenses, and restore health. Furthermore, it promotes various community-led development activities such as community-based tourism and local food production, safe food practices, resource management, and local curriculum development to address sustainability issues in the long term.
Currently, Project FLR349 is being implemented in Kong Khaek Sub-district, Mae Chaem District, Chiang Mai Province. There are over 80 participating farmers covering an area of approximately 330 acres, distributed across 6 villages: Ban Kong Khaek Nuea, Ban Om Meng, Ban Sam Sob, Ban Om Khud, Ban Pha Phueng, and Ban Mok Luang. Additionally, the majority of farmers are more familiar with using the local dialect for communication rather than Thai language.
To ensure smooth and efficient coordination and activities within Project FLR349, it is necessary to find a field coordinator in the area who can effectively communicate and collaborate with farmers in Mae Chaem District, Chiang Mai Province.
The Field Coordinator for Project FLR349 acts as the main link between the project team and farmers in Kong Khaek Sub-district, Mae Chaem District, Chiang Mai Province. Their primary responsibilities involve communicating project objectives and requirements to farmers, providing support and guidance in implementing activities related to forest landscape restoration and sustainable livelihood development, organizing training sessions to enhance farmers' skills and knowledge, monitoring project progress, and addressing any challenges encountered during implementation by finding effective solutions. Overall, the Field Coordinator plays a crucial role in facilitating successful collaboration and ensuring the smooth execution of Project FLR349.
