ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND 

Established in 2002, Baan Dek Foundation (BDF) is a not-for-profit, non-governmental organization that aims to provide access to essential education, health, and child protection services to disadvantaged children and families in construction site camps. Through field projects and advocacy activities, BDF aims to improve access to services for the estimated 60,000 children connected to the construction sector in Thailand. BDF’s activities reach over 1,600 children and 10,000 workers in the construction industry per year. 

PROJECT BACKGROUND

As part of our commitment to serving the Thai community and ensuring accessibility for Thai speakers, we seek a skilled translator to translate our website content into Thai. This translation project aims to make our resources and information accessible to Thai-speaking audiences, particularly in Thailand, where our NGO is located.

MAIN OBJECTIVES OF THE CONSULTANCY WORK

The main objective of this consultancy work is to accurately translate the content of our website (https://www.baandekfoundation.org/) into Thai, ensuring clarity, cultural relevance, and consistency in tone and meaning.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responsible for translating all website content from English to Thai.

Qualifications 

Nationality: Thai nationality 

Language requirements: Excellent command of written and spoken English & Thai. 

The pre-qualified translator will be selected using Price Quality Method following the below detailed criteria:

• Number of years of experience in translation

• The quality of the translation sample provided

• Experience translating documents related to the NGO sector, Social Impact, and social thematics. 

• Price per word for Thai to English and English to Thai translation proposed and applied for a one-year period.

• At least 2 samples of previous translation work, 
• CV or Company Profile,
• This is information on the average time needed to translate a two-page document, a ten-page document, and a sixty-page document.
• The cost of translation, all taxes included, is per word from Thai to English and English to Thai. This price has to be guaranteed for one year. 

Skills and competencies 

• Proficiency in both English and Thai languages.

• Experience in translating website content or similar materials.

• Attention to detail and ability to maintain consistency in tone and style.

• Cultural sensitivity and understanding of Thai language nuances.

• Effective communication and collaboration skills.

 Compensation: To be defined based on experience and qualifications 

PROPOSAL PROCESS

Interested consultants shall submit an initial expression of interest containing the candidates’ CV,  at least two examples of previous similar work, and contact details of at least two references. After receiving the untranslated Google document, candidates shall send a completed financial proposal as detailed below.

The financial proposal shall encompass the consultant’s daily rate and any other applicable costs for carrying out the assignment VAT if applicable and any other costs necessary to undertake the assignment
