Malteser International is a German non-governmental organization providing humanitarian assistance and development aid for people in need in over 20 countries. Malteser International is currently working with temporary refugee shelters and surrounding villages in Sob-Moei district, Mae Hong Son province in Thailand. Our office located in Mae Sariang is looking for an efficient, motivated and experienced Thai national for the position as Malaria Project Officer
Duty Station: Mae Sariang town, Mae Hong Son province
Work locations: Mae Sariang and Sob-Moei Districts within the field.
Duration: 1 year (with possible extension)
Salary range: 30,000 THB (+benefits)
Main Responsibilities and Duties
- Function as the main focal point for Global Fund RAI4E for requests and communications.
- Plan and implement proposed Malaria prevention and control activities in project target location.
- Ensure targets and indicators linked to malaria prevention and control are achieved.
- Monitor inventory and stock of Global Fund RAI4E program, including distribution of project related items in targeted locations.
- Monitor malaria treatment and ensure adherence to Thai national treatment guideline.
- Collect, validate, and upload all malaria related data into internal and donor databases timely.
- Lead Pro-active Case Detection (PACD) and Passive Case Detection (PCD), activities, and ensure the planned targets are achieved timely.
- Coordinate and collaborate malaria prevention and control activities with supervisors based in Mae Sariang office and with other relevant stakeholders.
- Supervise the work of the Malaria Field Assistant (MFA).
- Together with MFA supervise project-related shelter-based volunteers (Malaria Post Workers, Malaria Outreach Workers etcetera)
- Train shelter-based staff on malaria prevention and control.
- Prepare quarterly narrative and financial reports timely in English.
- Represent the project in meetings with the Sub-Recipient IRC as well as the PR Department of Disease Control (PRDDC) related to monitoring, progress reviews, and similar.
Essential Qualifications/Skills:
- University degree in field like Public Health, medical science or other health sciences or equivalent combination com education and experience.
- Previously working in rural or remote areas with limited resources.
- Self-dependency is crucial.
- Experience with data and work on excel-based database application.
- Fluency in both Thai and English.
- Proficient with MS Office application, especially MS excel-base database.
- Able to work and stay in the field 2-3 nights weekly, depending on workload.
Starting date: As soon as possible.
