Based in Bangkok, SEI Asia has a diverse team of multinational experts who integrate scientific research with participatory approaches to co-develop and share knowledge, build partnerships, and influence policy for resilient development. SEI Asia's work focuses on gender and social equity, climate adaptation, disaster risk reduction, water insecurity and integrated water resources management, transitional agriculture, renewable energy and urbanization.
SEI Asia is an affiliate of Chulalongkorn University (CU), Thailand. SEI and CU have an agreement to foster innovative scientific research combined with effective policy engagement on development and environmental challenges in Asia. The key areas of collaboration are intellectual engagement for joint research applications and fund mobilization, lectures and seminars for CU students, post-graduate supervision and examination, and CU–SEI employee links.
The role
Under the direct supervision of the Communications Manager (Asia) and guided by the
Head of Communications, the Communications intern (content and digital) will support the
SEI Asia Centre communications team in delivering activities outlined in the regional
communications work plan, particularly relating to content development and digital
engagement (online web management and social media management and analytics).
- Active participation in the day-to-day management of SEI Asia's social media platforms, enhancing their digital footprint and audience engagement.
- Collaborative involvement in the digital communications strategy for pivotal initiatives, including a premier climate forum, thereby gaining insight into strategic communication planning and execution.
- Contribution to the development and maintenance of SEI Asia's content and social media scheduling tools, ensuring a cohesive and dynamic online presence.
- Oversight of SEI Asia's digital performance metrics, acquiring analytical skills essential for assessing the impact of digital communications strategies.
- Under the mentorship of the Communications Manager, provide assistance in crafting and refining digital content, including infographics, videos, and photo posts, sharpening creative and technical skills.
- Offer comprehensive communications support as necessitated by SEI Asia's dynamic environment.

- A comprehensive understanding of digital content creation and optimization, derived from real-world testing and analytics, preparing participants for data-informed decision-making in digital marketing.
- Expanded knowledge of environmental and sustainability principles, empowering participants to contribute meaningfully to discussions and initiatives on sustainable development.
This program is designed not only to impart practical skills and knowledge but also to instill a deep sense of environmental stewardship and global awareness, positioning participants for success in their future careers.

Essential Qualifications:
- Academic: The candidate should either be a fresh graduate within one year or currently be in the final academic year of an undergraduate programme. Alternatively, they may be enrolled in a postgraduate degree programme (e.g., a master’s degree or higher). Preferred fields of study include mass communications, graphic design, visual communications, media studies, or other relevant disciplines at the university level.
- Language Proficiency: Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in English are required. Proficiency in one or more languages prevalent in the Mekong region (e.g., Thai, Vietnamese, Cambodia, Burmese, etc.) will be considered a significant advantage, reflecting the intern's ability to engage effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders within the region.
- Multimedia Communication: The intern must possess a working knowledge of multimedia communication principles, with a particular emphasis on graphic design and video editing. This skill set is crucial for creating compelling content that resonates with diverse audiences, including those in the Asia-Pacific region.
- Social Media and Digital Engagement: A solid understanding of social media engagement strategies is mandatory. Experience with digital data analytics is highly desirable, as it will aid in the development and implementation of effective communication strategies targeted at audiences within the Asia-Pacific region and beyond.
- Creativity and Innovation: The ability to think creatively and innovatively is critical. The intern should demonstrate a capacity for developing fresh and impactful communication and marketing strategies that can effectively engage audiences in the Asia-Pacific region.
- Cultural Sensitivity and Teamwork: Demonstrated ability to work harmoniously with staff members from a variety of national and cultural backgrounds is essential. Given the diverse cultural contexts within the Asia-Pacific region, the intern must exhibit a high degree of cultural sensitivity and adaptability, enabling effective collaboration and communication with regional partners and communities.

Additional Information
- SEI Asia provides a stipend allowance for the intern.
- The cost of the initial visa application and relocation as well as accommodation shall be covered by the intern
- SEI Asia will support the process of obtaining the visa and work permit, if applicable
- The intern is responsible for his/her/their own health/ accident and life insurance for his/her/their stay in Thailand
