As an international cooperation enterprise with worldwide operations, the German government-owned Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH operates on behalf of German ministries, the governments of other countries, and international clients to provide tailor-made, cost-efficient and effective services for sustainable development. We are looking for a Nakhon Sawan-based staff to support GIZ’s work on the topic of Biomass to Energy.
Advisor (senior-level) (TGC EMC Biomass Project)
Thailand aims to reduce emissions by 20-25% by 2030, focusing on energy and transport sectors. Despite the potential of renewable energy, the country still relies heavily on fossil fuels. The TGC EMC program supports Thailand's energy transition, emphasizing renewable energy, including biomass from agricultural residues, to address pollution and promote sustainable growth. The Biomass to Energy component targets enhancing the energy supply chain by utilizing agricultural residues, especially from sugarcane leaves and rice straw aligning with national policies and diversifying farmers’ income. GIZ collaborates with local agencies to tackle emissions, enhance agricultural practices, and implement effective management systems. Nakhon Sawan was selected as a pilot area for its significant PM2.5 pollution issues and the presence of biomass power plants that use agricultural residues.
Main Role:
The role of the Advisor is to closely work alongside partners from local government entities, industry, and farming communities in Nakhon Sawan to ensure their cooperation in implementation of the project workplan and priorities with well-informed and transparent planning and decision-making processes.

The Advisor holds duty station in Nakhon Sawan, Thailand. The advisor is supposed to start on 1st June 2024 with an initial contract period up to 31th May 2026. The Senior Advisor reports directly to the Component Lead.
