The People Serving People Foundation (PSPF), a young and vibrant Thai foundation that focuses on promoting human rights, assisting vulnerable populations, and developing civil society in the ASEAN region from its Bangkok office, is looking for a Thai national to join its Civil Society Development (CSD) Team in Bangkok, Thailand. The CSD Team implements activities that build capacity for communities and civil society organizations (CSOs) in Southeast Asia. It works in close collaboration with Boat People SOS, a US civil society organization that works on human rights issues affecting communities across Southeast Asia. The CSD Team currently works on several projects through partnerships with local and regional CSOs. The successful candidate will be part of the CSD Team and work in close coordination with other team members. The CSD Fellow’s main assignments will include:
- To serve as liaison for CSD Team with Thai civil society and human rights organizations and government agencies.
- To support human rights defenders among the local population of refugees and asylum seekers:
- Work with the Center for Asylum Protection (CAP) Team to ensure that human rights defenders are well supported in the refugee status determination process, receive adequate protection, and access resettlement opportunities;
- Apply for emergency assistance on their behalf;
- Connect them with Thai human rights institutions, ASEAN human rights mechanisms, and national/international human rights organizations operating in Thailand;
- Offer trainings relevant to their human rights work.
- To develop a local advocacy network that is well-connected in Southeast Asia and globally:
- Develop a network of advocates for human rights, particularly freedom of religion or belief (FoRB), based in Thailand but operating throughout Southeast Asia;
- Introduce them and/or their organizations to human rights CSOs in Thailand, in Southeast Asia, and globally;
- Initiate, develop, and nurture relationships with support groups in the diasporas and with international CSO partners.
- To report outcomes and progress:
- Jointly with other CSD Team members, track activities and outcomes;
- Submit joint monthly outcomes and activities reports;
- Attend weekly meetings of CSD Team and with CAP Team.
Qualifications and requirements
- Thai nationality
- A first degree in any discipline
- Fluency in Thai and English
- Excellent computer skills
- Being a self-starter
- Spirit of teamwork
- Prior project management experience or willingness to learn on the job
- Excellent written, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to multitask, effectively prioritize, and respond to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines
- Exceptional problem-solving skills
Location: Bangkok, Thailand
