About Terre des Hommes

Terre des Hommes Netherlands aims to protect children by preventing and stopping child exploitation. And by empowering children to make their voices count. Terre des Hommes Netherlands focuses on (online) Sexual Exploitation of Children, Child Labour and Humanitarian Action. For each of these forms of child exploitation, Terre des Hommes Netherlands (TdH NL) is developing and implementing projects and programmes through local partners, mainly in Asia,  Africa and Europe. What will you work on:

You will be working together with the Child Participation Lead to ensure children’s voices are mainstreamed in the work of TdH NL. Specific tasks will be defined with the intern, based also on the interests, experience and skills of the successful candidate. Some broad tasks may include:

• Supporting finalisation and roll out of the TdH NL child participation policy.
• Supporting finalisation and roll out of the TdH NL child participation guidelines.
• Organising and facilitating online child participation sessions with children in Thailand in collaboration with the Child Participation Lead.
• Support the launch of a child participation network.
• Organise and deliver child participation learning activities for TdH NL in collaboration with the Child Participation Lead.
• Support the development of child-friendly materials in collaboration with country teams and the Child Participation Lead.
• Collaborate with other teams within TdH NL to support child participation needs of these teams.
• Work in collaboration with the Thailand SUFASEC Programme Coordinator to provide administrative support where need be.

If a thesis is a mandatory component of your studies, we are happy to discuss the possibility of combining this with your internship and looking for opportunities for you to contribute towards TdH NL learning on child participation.

Who are we looking for?

• Motivated and hands-on individual.
• Individuals with good oral and written communication skills in both Thai and English.
• Student working towards a Masters degree in Social Work, Education, Social Policy, Development Studies or International/Child Right/Human Rights Law.
• Someone with knowledge on child rights, child protection, or child exploitation.
• Someone with good analytical and organisational skills.
• We appreciate special interests in and knowledge of especially marginalised groups, LGBTQI+ or disability rights.
