Major Functions:
The Coordinator will be responsible for overall project management to achieve the project’s goals and targets, and ensure all activities comply with project agreements, WWF’s contractual obligations, and donor requirements. The Project Coordinator will take full responsibility for the technical, financial, and administrative aspects of the project.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead the implementation of WWF activities under the Tap Lan National Park Elephant Action Plan to manage Human-Elephant Conflict and protect and restore elephant habitats and corridors.
- Develop and implement restoration plans for elephant movement corridors.
- Collaborate with WWF Thailand 30 by 30 Program Managers to identify lands suitable to be listed as Other Effective area-based Conservation Measures (OECMs) to enable habitat connectivity for elephants and other species outside traditional protected areas.
- Build and maintain effective partnerships with the government agencies, NGOs, and local communities that are parties to the Action Plan.
- Represent the program in relevant forums and networks, advocating for conservation priorities.
- Utilize adaptive management techniques to continuously assess and refine conservation strategies based on monitoring data and evolving conditions.
- Keep the Senior Program Manager informed of any programmatic challenges, delays, or difficulties in achieving financial burn rate.
- Work with WWF M&E to develop and implement monitoring and evaluation frameworks to track project impact and progress.
- Regularly monitor and report on progress, ensuring adherence to workplan and adjusting as necessary.
- Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring financial sustainability and accountability.
- Track expenditures, ensure cost-effectiveness, and prepare financial reports to meet donor requirements and organizational standards.
- Prepare comprehensive reports on project activities, outcomes, and lessons learned for internal and external stakeholders.
- Work closely with the ESSF Manager in identifying potential risks to the program and developing mitigation strategies.
- Support other work as required.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum bachelor’s degree preferred in conservation biology, forest ecology, environmental science, or Advance degree is advantage.
- 5 years of research and/or project management of complex forest or wildlife conservation projects involving multi-stakeholders; connectivity conservation experience highly desirable.
- Understanding of forest ecosystems, threats, socio-economic contexts, and conservation opportunities in Thailand, if possible, including familiarity with Human-Wildlife Conflict Management approaches used by the Department of National Parks, Wildlife, and Plant Conservation.
- Fluency in Thai and competence in English.
