Save the Children has been working in Myanmar since 1995. Our programmes include Maternal and Child Health, Nutrition, HIV/AIDS, WASH, Education, Food Security and Livelihoods, Child Protection and Child Rights Governance and Humanitarian Responses in across the country. In addition, Save the Children International’s Asia Sub-Regional Office (ASRO), based in Bangkok, Thailand, implements a large, multi-donor education programme strengthening education systems in Myanmar.
We are currently inviting motivated and talented individuals to apply for an exciting opportunity as Programme Associate for an education programme supporting Myanmar, managed out of the Save the Children Asia Sub-Regional Office. The contracted consultancy position is expected to be remote, home-based (with travel as required) or based out of the Bangkok office if the successful candidate has/obtains appropriate work authorization. Role: The ASRO education programme partners with selected education provider systems to strengthen their capacity to deliver and sustain good quality learning opportunities for hard-to-reach children in Myanmar. As a multi-donor funded programme with a $15-20million/year annual budget, the education programme operates in a fragile and complex context. With funding support from four institutional donors (USAID, DFAT, FCDO and Finland), the programme provides funding, coordination, technical assistance and research across different local partner systems to promote continuous improvement of education services and a supportive operating environment for strengthening education outcomes. The programme is currently in its third phase of implementation with a strategy period of 2021-2029 and is currently recruiting for a fluent English speaker with strong English writing skills to serve as Programme Associate, providing donor liaison, reporting support, management assistance, implementation risk monitoring, and other forms of programme assistance, as required, to the programme.

Introduction: The Programme Associate will report to the Deputy Chief of Party for Programme Operations, providing assistance and coordination to donors and the senior leadership team on a range of tasks. Primary responsibilities include liaising and coordinating with donors; providing programme management assistance; planning and documenting high-level meetings; supporting with donor requirements, communications and reporting; andmonitoring implementation risks and challenges.
The Programme Associate is expected to be a contracted consultancy position that is home-based, working online remotely with the Myanmar and Thai-based team members; however, the candidate is expected to work during Myanmar (GMT +6:30) working hours (9am - 5:30pm) with travel to Bangkok as required (or located in Bangkok if the successful candidate has/obtains appropriate work authorization). Successful candidates who are Thai nationals are expected to be under an employment contract position.
