Position Title               :  Intern (Project Support)

Duty Station                :  Bangkok, Thailand

Classification              :  Internship (THB 21,657 per month)

Type of Appointment  :  Internship, 6 months with possibility of extension

Established in 1951, IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.

 

1. ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT AND SCOPE:

Under the direct supervision of the Senior Project Assistant and overall supervision of the Project Manager of the Preparedness, Response and Recovery Unit (PRR) the successful candidate will contribute to the implementation of material and service support for minority groups from Myanmar as well as other vulnerable migrants in Immigration Detention Centres, Shelters for Children and Families, and Welfare Protection Centres for Victims of Trafficking in Thailand. The candidate will also contribute to the implementation of other projects managed by the PRR Unit.

 

2. RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

The successful candidate will have the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Assist Unit staff in the implementation of humanitarian assistance to migrants in government facilities and communities across Thailand.
  • Support information and knowledge management processes for the PRR Unit through data collection, consolidation, and analysis, media monitoring, and creation and maintenance of tools including dashboards and reports.
  • Support drafting of monthly project updates, situation reports, and other knowledge products.
  • Support project management tasks of the unit, including monitoring and evaluation, donor reporting, and project development.
  • Assist in organizing and documenting external meetings with international organizations, NGOs and other relevant actors.
  • Perform day-to-day administrative duties for project implementation and management.
  • Brief unit staff on project activities on a regular basis.
  • Perform such other duties as may be required.

 

3. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

EDUCATION

  • Enrolled in or recently graduated from Bachelor’s degree or higher in Social Sciences, International Development, International Relations, Political Science, or relevant field.

EXPERIENCE

  • Knowledge or experience in the broad range of migration and related subject areas dealt with by IOM is an advantage; and
  • Experience working with international organizations or governmental institutions in a multicultural setting is an advantage;

SKILLS

  • Excellent English writing and communication skills;
  • Able to adapt to an international, multicultural, multilingual environment;
  • Good communication skills and able to work in a team;
  • Familiarity with computer programs, including MS Office programs;
  • Prior knowledge of data collection and analysis tools, including Excel, Power BI, various survey tools are an advantage;
  • Prior knowledge or experience on migration and development in Southeast Asia is an advantage;
  • Prior knowledge or experience in data collection and analysis as well as information management is an advantage.

 

4. LANGUAGES

  • Fluency in English is required (oral and written).
  • Working Knowledge of Burmese, Rohingya or Thai languages are an asset.
