Introduction
The Borderland Health Foundation (BHF) is a non-for-profit, non-confessional and non-political organization, registered in Thailand. The Foundation is linked to a field station of the Mahidol - Oxford University Research Unit (SMRU) which located in Tak province, Thailand. BHF is working with marginalized populations along the Thailand-Myanmar border to scale up and support the health projects, translating the results obtained by SMRU. The main areas of work are malaria, tuberculosis and maternal & child health.
Position Summary:
The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing and performing advanced accounting tasks to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the financial records. This role involves overseeing financial reporting, conducting account reconciliations, supporting audit processes, and providing guidance to junior accounting staff. The Senior Accountant plays a critical role in maintaining financial health and compliance within the organization.
Tasks/Responsibilities:
- Supervise and manage all aspects of day-to-day operations of accounting department and functions (AR, AP, GL, Tax, Inventory).
- Supervise, review and record of the transactions and proceed verification of financial documents of project/grant.
- Review monthly payroll, payments, and transactions; prepare bank reconciliation.
- Assist Finance/Accountant Manager to coordinate with other department heads and prepare cash forecast and budget planning.
- Oversee the maintenance of the general ledger.
- Ensure all transactions are recorded accurately and in compliance with accounting standards.
- Perform taxation related issue according to tax regulations for Thai registered foundation,
- prepare essential documents for annual financial auditing and review the financial statement.
- Implement and maintain internal controls for the fixed assets and depreciation according to requirement of accounting system.
- Collaborate and deal with external parties such as external auditor, revenue department, etc.
- Collaborate with grant and project team to prepare any grant-/project-based finance-related report and statements for donor agencies; liaise with grant and project coordinator/manager to answer any grant-/project-based finance matter inquired by donor agencies.
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting of financial information.
- Analyse financial data and present findings to senior management.
- Other assignments as request.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Accounting or Business Administration.
- Knowledge and practical skill in accrual- and cash-basis accounting.
- Knowledge and practical skill in following tax regulations for Thai registered foundation; prepare essential documents for annual financial auditing and review the financial statement.
- Knowledge and practical skill in managing fixed assets and depreciation 5-7 years of experience in a senior financial function.
- Good command of written and spoken English (intermediate or upper-intermediate).
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Good time management and ability to multi-task.
- Proficient user of ERP/finance software.
- Systematic thinking, analytical and management skills.
- Knowledge of financial reporting and project expense analysis.
- Finance experience with a global or multi-national organization will be an advantage.
