Position: Project Communication Officer (Child v State)

Project Summary (Brief)

The implementation of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) and its subsequent integration into Thai law over the past 30 years has not been widely recognized, particularly in the operational mechanisms of government agencies and civil society organizations. These mechanisms were established to increase accountability and prevent violations of children's rights. However, the slow development of integrating these provisions into Thai law has presented challenges in the strategic litigation of children's rights (CRSL) within Thai courts. The "Child v. State" project aims to explore and test these mechanisms to enhance transparency and accountability of those legally responsible, while also investigating potential strategies for planning and implementing strategic litigation to protect children's rights at the national level.

Project Communication Officer is responsible for communicating information, collecting relevant issues, and summarizing key points from case studies being followed. This role involves utilizing various communication channels, including social media, to disseminate information and engage with the public, in order to raise awareness and understanding of child rights issues and foster public participation.

Job description:

• Summarize key information and issues from monitored cases to present to stakeholders and the public, sharing updates and developments regarding the cases and the project.

• Coordinate with the legal team and foundation staff to compile information into a final summary before publication.

• Create clear and easy-to-understand summaries of case developments and progress, and disseminate these summaries to inform the public and relevant organizations about case tracking outcomes.

• Collaborate with the foundation's communications team to create content for distribution through social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, or the foundation’s website.

• Coordinate with news teams to develop communication strategies through partner media channels, and build new media networks.

• Write articles and create promotional materials related to child rights and strategic litigation within the country.

Education:

• Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Social Sciences, Political Science, Communications, or a related field (Fresh graduates are welcome to apply).

Qualification:

• Strong communication and coordination skills.

• Proficiency in using online communication tools such as social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) and content creation tools for public engagement.

• Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

• Time management and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.

• Ability to travel and occasionally stay overnight in provinces outside of Bangkok.

• Experience in working with child rights, legal issues, or media communications is an advantage.

Language Proficiency:

• Proficient in Thai (both written and verbal communication) – required.

• Proficient in English (both written and verbal communication) – preferred.

Employment Agreement:

• Annual contract: starting from January 1, 2025, to December 31, 2025 (1-year contract).
