BACKGROUND
DigitalReach is a organization founded in 2019 as a non-profit organization that works on the issues of how technology would have impact on human rights and democracy in Southeast Asia. The thematic area of work includes freedom of expression, the right to privacy, and digital security. The organization operates under a Thai law as it is registered as a foundation in Thailand in 2022. The organization is looking for finance consultant to support the organization financial work on a monthly basis.
SCOPE OF WORK
- Ensure that adequate financial procedures are in place to maintain proper accountability of incomes and expenditures;
- Ensure the financial transactions are properly authorized, recorded, have adequate supporting documentation, filled, maintained and can be easily extracted for the purpose of preparing financial statements and audits;
- Monitor budgets and expenditures in multi-currencies;
- Experience with computer-based accounting and finance management system;
- Maintain cash and bank books and reconciliation with bank statements, including control of disbursements and balancing of books and ledgers;
- Experience in handling multi-currencies in financial management;
- Process payment of salaries, allowances, travel claims and other payments to the staff, vendors, and other claimants;
- Process organization’s tax payments for the organization that is registered as a foundation according to the Thai law which includes PND 1, 3, 53, and 55;
- Prepare and submit monthly cash flow statuses;
- Prepare annual financial reports, including project reports;
- Prepare the organization’s performance annual report to the registrar at the district office according to the Thai law;
- Check and ensure that all procurement processes and expenditures are in accordance with DigitalReach and the organization’s funders’ procedures;
- Organize the annual project financial audits and assisting auditors with verification and queries;
- Prepare donor reports in multi-currencies.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Have a degree in finance, management, accounting, or related fields
- At least 5 years of experience working in the field of accountant and finance;
- Proficiency in Thai and English;
- Experience working in a non-profit organization on operation-related tasks;
- Experience in managing grants from international funding organizations;
- Experience in using a computer-based accounting software;
- Significant experience in financial monitoring, budget systems, and internal controls;
- Demonstrated experience in procurement and preparation of financial reports and budget variance analysis;
- Experience in dealing with tax related documents according to the Thai law, particularly PND1, PND3, PND53, PND 55, and 50 Tawi;
- Experience in dealing with Thai authorities and other stakeholders including Social Security Office, District Office, and audit company.
- Demonstrated strong analytical and multi-tasking skills;
- Proven ability to prepare budgets, contracts, and donor financial reports;
- Proficiency in software that is crucial for finance related matters including MS Office and Adobe.
COMPENSATION, DELIVERABLES, PERIOD OF CONSULTANCY, AND OTHER DETAILS
The compensation is 10,000 THB a month. The contract is initially 12 months in which the consultancy is expected to be between January 2025– December 2025. This consultancy is not full-time, and the consultant is expected manage his/her own availability to complete the monthly deliverables based on the standard financial practices for non-profit organizations. The payment will be made after the submission of each month’s deliverables. The work will be in both Thai and English.
While most of the work will be done in English, the consultant is expected to prepare documents in Thai for the organization on a monthly basis which are PND 1, 1 Kor, 3, 53, and 55, and 50 Tawi as well as an annual financial report to be submitted for Thai authorities and DigitalReach’s vendors. The consultant is expected to understand Thai laws and regulations that are related to tax submission and other related accounting matters for a Thai foundation. The donor reports have to be done separately in English for each donor, usually in the mid grant period and end of the grant. This consultancy works best to those who are already working as a freelance accountant.
