Background / IRC Summary:
The International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises, helping to restore health, safety, education, economic wellbeing, and power to people devastated by conflict and disaster. The IRC has been operating in Thailand since 1975 and currently provides assistance to displaced persons in Tak, Kan-chanaburi, Ratchaburi and Mae Hong Son provinces.
Scope of work
The Temporal EMR Translator Assistant will provide critical support to patients and their families, ensuring smooth communication between camp clinics, hospitals, and relevant authorities. This role is focused on providing translation services, managing refer-rals, and assisting in various logistical tasks related to patient care.
Major Responsibilities of the Temporal EMR Translator Assistant:
- Translation and Communication with Thai Hospitals:
- Contact Thai hospitals and provide translation services for patients referred from camp clinics. Ensure effective communication between patients and medical staff.
- Transportation Arrangements:
- Coordinate transportation for referred patients between the camps and hospitals, ensuring safe and timely travel.
- Patient Record Keeping and Follow-up:
- Maintain and update patient records, ensuring all follow-up appointments and patient information are accurately recorded and shared with the Health Pro-gram Assistant.
- Communication with Thai Authorities:
- Work with Thai hospitals and authorities to obtain necessary documents such as birth certificates, death certificates, and other patient-related documents.
- Coordination and Support to Program Staff:
- Assist and coordinate with the program staff to ensure efficient workflow and patient support throughout the process.
Deliverables:
The Temporal EMR Translator Assistant must produce specific deliverables to meet the contract requirements. These include:
- providing accurate and timely translations for communication between Thai hospitals and patients, ensuring the efficient submission and processing of referral forms, and coordinating transportation for patients between camps and hospitals.
- The assistant is responsible for maintaining up-to-date patient records, including tracking and sharing follow-up appointments with the Health Program Assistant.
- The contractor must facilitate the retrieval of essential documents, such as birth and death certificates, from Thai authorities. Regular reports should be provided, summa-rizing the coordination and assistance offered to program staff.
- All deliverables must be clearly documented, adhere to IRC's quality standards, and demonstrate the successful completion of the tasks outlined in the scope of work.
Payment Rate and Schedule:
Payment Process:
- Monthly Payment: Payment will be calculated and made on a monthly basis, based on the number of actual working days as documented in the submitted timesheet.
- Payment Timeline: Payments for each month will be processed and trans-ferred by the 1st week of the following month. For example, payment for De-cember 2024 will be disbursed within the 1st week of January 2025.
Requirements:
- Education:Post-ten standard/High School education or equivalent.
- Work Experience: Previous experience working with refugees, or in a Thai hospital set-ting, is preferred.
- Language Skills: Fluency in written and spoken Thai, Karen, Burmese, and Mon lan-guages are preferred.
- Demonstrated Skills and Competencies: Able to work as a team, good communication skills, Flexible working hours as necessities of the project.
