POSITION TITLE:       Consultant Writer

LOCATION:                 Bangkok (may require occasional travel to project sites in Thailand) 

PROJECT:                   USDA Thailand Regional Agriculture Innovation Network #thaiRAIN)

REPORTS TO:            Outreach and Communications Manager

Winrock International (Winrock) is a non-profit organization that works worldwide to increase economic opportunity, sustain natural resources, and protect the environment. The USDA Thailand Regional Agriculture Innovation Network (#thaiRAIN) is a five-year project, implemented by Winrock International, starting from 2022 to 2027 aims to promote production, trade and increase climate resilient in six agricultural value chain crops in Thailand namely: rice, cassava, coconut, durian, mangosteen, and longan. The project will be identifying climate-smart agricultural practices and technologies and will select and promote up to 30 technologies and services in the value chains focusing primarily in five provinces in Thailand (Chaiyaphum, Chanthaburi, Chaing Rai, Khon Kaen, and Nakhon Ratchasima). Project can provide support on conducting studies, grants for developer, capacity building program as well as financial mechanism to promote the adoption.

POSITION SUMMARY:

#thaiRAIN is seeking an aspiring writer to join our team as the Consultant Writer. The goal of this role is to support the Outreach and Communications Department for content creation. The main outputs include information sheets, success story, news release and audio-video scripts. Candidate with excellent skills in writing (English and Thai), self-discipline, and is interested to be part of technology promotion in agricultural sector is welcome to apply. 

This position is open for Thai National only.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Develop and write contents to support #thaiRAIN’s scale-up activities 

Tasks:

1.1 Work with Outreach and Communications Manager as well as Technical team to identify possible contents for articles/ writings. 

1.2 Develop outline and and write;

1.2.1 Success stories (EN) (2 per month) 

1.2.2 Technical write-up such as CSi one-pager document (EN/TH) (2 per month)

1.3 Collate information from existing materials to develop in-reach articles for Winrock’s channels such as Global Programme Quarterly or Innovation Newsletter, in English. (max 2 per month) 

1.4 Ensure the contents above are uploaded to the #thaiRAIN homepage on the Winrock website.

2. Public Relations 

Tasks:

2.1 Contribute to developing and writing press releases (EN/TH) as assigned. 

2.2 Contribute to planning and attending events organized by RAIN as assigned.

3. Outreach Material Development

Tasks:

3.1 Contribute to developing, writing and/or edit contents for outreach materials (EN/TH) such as information banner, video script, etc as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• An undergraduate or degree in Communications, Arts, Social Science, or any other related field, or at least 3 years of professional writing experience.
• Understanding of main target audience groups, including Thai farmers, public and private stakeholders, and journalists 
• Fluency in MS Word, particularly for document formatting 
• Ability to write professionally in English and Thai, and could conduct primary research to the assignments.
• Good analytical skills, self-discipline, organized and proactive. 
• Ability to work under tight deadlines, and travel to project sites from time to time.
