Malteser International is a German non-governmental organization providing humanitarian assistance and development aid for people in need in over 30 countries. Malteser International is currently working with temporary refugee shelters in Sob-Moei district, Mae Hong Son province in Thailand. With funding provided by the European Union for the project “Health and WASH services, return preparedness and Capacity Strengthening for Refugees in the Thai Myanmar Border Temporary Shelters”, our office located in Mae Sariang, is looking for efficient, motivated and experienced individuals for the position as Medic Trainer.

Duty Station: Mae Sariang town, Mae Hong Son province

Duration: 7 months (service contract) 

Work locations: Mae Sariang, Sob Moei District (Mae La Ma Luang and Mae La Oon Temporary shelters)

Salary: 50,000 THB (all inclusive) 

Main Responsibilities/Duties

1. Review MI training curriculum and training methodology and revise as required.
2. Prepare initial training document and tools such as PowerPoint presentation and handouts.
3. Prepare logistical and administrative needs for the training such as trainee’s food support
4. Collaborate with Curative Health Care Manager to plan the recruitment of initial medic training, such as enrollment criteria, written tests and interviews.
5. Conduct recruitment of medic trainees together with Clinical Supervisors & Field Coordinator.
6. Prepare and conduct periodical evaluation of the trainees at the end of each subject and properly record those results. 
7. Conduct 6-month theoretical part of training according to the training curriculum
8. Coordinate with other MI staff for training input if relevant.
9. Prepare and conduct final examination, prepare score sheet and other relevant reports at the end of the training to contribute to the preparation of training certificates and performance grading.
10. Together with Curative Health Care Manager and other relevant MI staff prepare guidelines and tools for the practical training period.

Essential Qualifications/Skills:

1. Medical Doctor degree with proven registration in home country, registration in Thailand considered an advantage 
2. 2-3 years of experience attending and treating patients in a clinic or hospital setting, preferably with clinical experience in rural settings/ health facility 
3. Experience in supervisory position in a humanitarian setting 
4. Previous experience in Thai-Myanmar refugee shelters considered an advantage. 
5. Specialization in any of the fields of pediatrics, OB/Gyn considered an advantage
6. Proven teaching, training, and supervising skills
7. Fluency in speaking, reading, and writing English and Burmese. 
8. Good command of Sgaw Karen languages is considered an advantage.
9. Good interpersonal and communication skill, known as a good team player.
