Malteser International is a German non-governmental organization providing humanitarian assistance and development aid for people in need in over 30 countries. Malteser International is currently working with temporary refugee shelters and surrounding villages in Sob-Moei district, Mae Hong Son province in Thailand. Our office located in Mae Sariang is looking for an efficient, motivated and experienced Thai individual  for the position as WASH Officer.

Duty Station:             Mae Sariang town, Mae Hong Son province

Work locations:         Mae Sariang and Sob-Moei Districts within the field

Duration:                   Until July 2025 (with possible extension)

Salary range:             30,000 THB ( benefits)

Main Responsibilities and Duties

1. Lead WASH assessment of project target locations, providing input for the overall plan end ensuring safety concern related to natural hazards, environment protection and other limitations being highlighted.
2. Design and set up water supply, sanitation facilities, and solid waste management systems according to SPHERE guidelines.
3. Plan, implement and monitor operation and maintenance of water supply network and water storage
4. Coordination and implementation of all activities regarding the provision and maintenance of the water sanitation, vector control and solid waste disposal system.
5. Prepare Bill of Quantities and materials list for water supply, sanitation, waste management in project target location 
6. Set up water treatment and water quality monitoring SOPs and application suitable to target areas.
7. Technical advisory function for partners in all WASH related (access to water source, distribution, and collection, storage and treatment, latrines, waste management, wash facilities and vector control) activities.
8. Assess technical and material needs for target beneficiaries based on online feedback and data, maps, and information provided by Partner staff
9. Assess the capacities of partners on provision of WASH services (water supply, water treatment water quality monitoring, water storage, sanitation, waste management, hygiene promotion and vector control) including conducting WASH community need assessments, develop training plan per each partner based on identified gaps.
10. Prepare and conduct WASH related training as per the training plan developed for each partner.  
11. Conduct alternative long-distance training or technical support for Partner implementation.
12. Update internal data based and activity progress of partners to supervisor weekly/ monthly basis.

Essential Qualifications/Skills:

1. University degree or equivalent in Water Engineering, rural infrastructure and similar with complementing training linked to Water and Sanitation
2. Experience in setting up water supply and sanitation infrastructure in rural areas.
3. Proven experience in developing BOQ and constructing local WASH infrastructure using “low-tech” solution with locally or easily sourced material.
4. Previous experience in the WASH field with other (I)NGO
5. Experience in organizing WASH related training to target population
6. Familiarity and experience with hygiene promotion approaches among rural beneficiaries
7. Thai national who fluent in Thai and Karen (Sgaw Karen)
8. Language skills in Karenni and Burmese also considered advantages
