Position title:  Program Coordinator, Forest Forward Program

Reports to: Senior Program Manager, Forest Forward Program

Supervises: N/A

Location: Bangkok  

 

I. Background:

For over 50 years, WWF has been protecting the future of nature. WWF’s unique way of working combines global reach with a foundation in science, involves action at all levels locally to globally, and ensures the delivery of innovative solutions that meet the needs of both people and nature. WWF has been working in Thailand since 1983 and established a country office in 1995. Our work in Thailand includes wildlife, fisheries, forest, and landscape conservation, as well as efforts to reduce marine plastics.

The Program Coordinator will support the Senior Program Manager in coordinating and implementing the Forest Forward Program, which focuses on forest and wildlife conservation across three critical biodiversity hotspots: the Mae Ping-Om Koi Forest Complex, the Khao Yai-Thap Lan Forest Complex, and the Lower Songkhram Floodplain River Basin. This initiative aims to restore forest landscapes, designate protected areas and Other Effective Area-Based Conservation Measures (OECMs), influence sustainable forest management policy, and address human- wildlife conflict.

This position requires strong organizational, administrative, and communication skills to ensure smooth program execution and alignment with conservation goals, donor requirements, and WWF policies. The role emphasizes facilitating collaboration among stakeholders, tracking project progress, and providing support for technical, financial, and administrative functions.

 

II. Major Functions:

The Program Coordinator will primarily assist the Senior Program Manager in program coordination and implementation. This includes ensuring compliance with project agreements, contractual obligations, and donor requirements, as well as providing support for reporting, budgeting, and stakeholder engagement

 

III. Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support the coordination and implementation of conservation activities across the three project sites, ensuring consistency and alignment with program objectives.
  • Assist in the development, tracking, and management of work plans, budgets, and reports to optimize resource allocation and ensure timely delivery of project milestones.
  • Facilitate stakeholder communication and engagement, ensuring effective collaboration between partners, government agencies, and local communities.
  • Support the collection, organization, and analysis of conservation data to inform decision-making and track program impact.
  • Assist in preparing reports, presentations, and communication materials to share program progress, achievements, and challenges with donors, partners, and the WWF network.
  • Ensure program activities comply with WWF safeguard policies, including environmental and social risk assessments.
  • Provide administrative and logistical support for program meetings, workshops, and field activities.
  • Assist in monitoring and evaluating program performance to ensure continuous improvement and adaptation.
  • Support other tasks as assigned by the Senior Program Manager.

 

IV. Profile

Required Qualifications:       

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in conservation biology, forest management, ecology, environmental science, or a related field.
  • At least 3–5 years of experience in project coordination, preferably in conservation, natural resource management, or environmental programs.
  • Knowledge of forest ecosystems, socio-economic contexts, and conservation challenges in Thailand. Familiarity with forest and wildlife policies of the Royal Forest Department and Department of National Parks, Wildlife, and Plant Conservation is an advantage.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with experience in work plan development, budgeting, and project tracking.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and local communities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in Thai and English.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other project management tools.
  • Ability to travel to field sites as needed.

V. Working Relationships:

Internal: WWF-Thailand Conservation, Finance, and Communications staff, as well as WWF Greater Mekong specialists and WWF-Network donor offices (WWF European and other national offices).

External: Office of National Environment Policy, Thailand Department of National Parks, Wildlife, and Plant Conservation, Royal Forest Department, Department of Fisheries, and other agency senior leadership, provincial and military representatives, individual protected area managers and wildlife researchers, as well as academic, CSO, and INGO partners.

This JD covers the main tasks and conveys the spirit of the sort of tasks that are anticipated proactively from staff. Other tasks may be assigned as necessary according to organizational needs.
