Job Title: Communication and Campaign Intern

Department: Campaign                                                Reports to: Communication and Campaign Officer  

Location: Bangkok, Thailand                                       Contract Length: 9-12 Weeks

Role Overview: 

The Communication & Campaign Intern will assist Amnesty International Thailand’s Communication & Campaign Team in executing communication strategies that enhance human rights campaigns and advocacy efforts. The role involves creative storytelling, content development, digital engagement, event support, and media coordination. The intern will help ensure that communication outputs align with Amnesty Thailand’s overall communication strategy and campaign priorities, such as freedom of expression, freedom of assembly, housing rights, and other emerging human rights issues. They will also aid cross-team collaboration with Policy & Advocacy, Public Campaign, and Activism & HRE teams to maintain consistent messaging. By the end of the internship, the intern will plan and execute a small independent project related to communication or campaign strategies.  

Key Accountabilities/ Responsibilities: 

  • Content Creation & Storytelling: Develop engaging content for social media, newsletters, blogs, and campaign materials, including articles, visuals, and multimedia content. 

  • Strategic Communication Support: Assist in aligning outputs with Amnesty Thailand’s communication strategy and broader campaign objectives. 

  • Cross-Team Collaboration: Work with Policy & Advocacy, Public Campaign, and Activism & HRE teams to ensure consistent and integrated messaging. 

  • Digital Campaigns: Support social media planning and management, audience engagement, and performance monitoring. 

  • Event Support: Assist in preparing communication materials and logistics for campaign events, workshops, and public discussions. 

  • Media Coordination: Contribute to preparing press releases, media briefs, and statements; liaise with journalists and media partners to ensure effective communication and dissemination. 

  • Audience Engagement: Help adapt messages for diverse audiences (youth, activists, public, donors). 

  • Monitoring & Learning: Support communication analytics and reporting using tools such as Wise Sight, contributing to lessons learned and the development of improved strategies. 

  • Creative Input: Participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute ideas for innovative communication and campaign activities. 

  • Independent Project: Design and deliver a personal project related to communication or campaigns under team guidance.

  • Practical experience in implementing communication strategies for human rights campaigns. 

  • Skills in content creation, digital campaigning, and media coordination. 

  • Understanding of how communication links to advocacy, activism, and fundraising. 

  • Experience in cross-team collaboration to deliver integrated campaign messaging. 

  • Skills in analysing communication performance and applying lessons learned. 

  • Project management experience through an independent project.

Person Specification:

  • Strong interest in communication, advocacy, and digital campaigning for human rights. 

  • Current student or recent graduate in Communication, Journalism, PR, or related field. 

  • Strong writing and content creation skills, with the ability to craft clear and impactful messages. 

  • Familiarity with digital tools (social media platforms, analytics, content management, design tools). 

  • Ability to work collaboratively and manage multiple tasks. 

  • Fluency in Thai; English proficiency desirable.

Compensation:

  • Stipend: 6,000 THB per month. 

  • Phone/Internet: Reimbursement up to 500 THB per month (with receipts). 

  • Insurance: Accident insurance provided for work-related travel and activities. 

  • Travel & Meals: Reimbursement of actual costs (with receipts) for work-related events outside the office. Daily commuting costs are not covered. 

  • Housing Allowance: 3,000 THB per month for interns not based in Bangkok (valid rental agreement required). 

  • Project Support: 5,000–10,000 THB available for the final project, subject to approval.
