Contract: Full-time, 1 year (with possible extension)
Start date: As soon as possible
Remuneration: 40,000 – 60,000 baht per month, depending on experience

About the role
We are seeking a highly motivated and proactive Net Free Seas Community Coordinator to lead the expansion and implementation of the Net Free Seas (NFS) program in Southern Thailand.
The NFS Coordinator will work directly with coastal and fishing communities to reduce marine plastic pollution — particularly from Abandoned, Lost, or Discarded Fishing Gear (ALDFG) — while demonstrating how community-led solutions can inform policy and drive national-level change.
This role is ideal for someone with hands-on experience in community empowerment, social enterprise, and environmental advocacy, who can work independently, take initiative, and connect on-the-ground action with broader system change.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the strategic expansion of NFS activities across Southern Thailand, ensuring alignment with program goals and donor objectives.
- Strengthen partnerships with local communities, government agencies, recycling partners, and NGOs to promote inclusive and sustainable ALDFG management.
- Design and facilitate capacity-building workshops, leadership trainings, and community learning exchanges to empower local actors.
- Develop and support community-based entrepreneurial models that generate income through the responsible collection and recycling of fishing gear and marine litter.
- Work closely with local and national government stakeholders to advocate for the integration of NFS as a model for national marine litter policy and practice.
- Gather evidence, data, and success stories that demonstrate the social, economic, and environmental impact of NFS for policy engagement.
- Coordinate with communications and advocacy teams to amplify community voices and showcase NFS as a leading example of circular economy innovation.
- Ensure timely monitoring, documentation, and reporting of project progress and outcomes.
Required qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience working directly with coastal or rural communities in Thailand, preferably in environmental, empowerment, or social enterprise projects.
- Proven ability to organise and facilitate workshops, trainings, or community dialogues.
- Demonstrated experience in advocacy or policy engagement, particularly in linking field results to national-level frameworks or campaigns.
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and ability to work independently and proactively with minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication skills in Thai and English, both written and spoken.
- Commitment to environmental justice, community empowerment, and sustainable ocean solutions.
Desirable qualifications
- Experience working in Thailand’s Deep South (Pattani, Narathiwat)
- Ability to communicate in Jawi or local southern dialects.
- Experience developing entrepreneurial or livelihood initiatives with communities.
- Familiarity with ALDFG, marine litter, or circular economy policy frameworks.
Deadline: 30th Nov 2025 (applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis)
