Scope of Work FOR MALARIA CONSULTANT

Time frame: Up to 60 days commencing from 8 February to 30 June, 2016.

Background

RTI International through the U.S. Agency for International Development’s (USAID) Inform Asia: USAID’s Health Research Program, has received funding to provide technical assistance to a range of local stakeholders in the areas of knowledge management and capacity building with regard to strengthening the Thai national program in malaria. The proposed consultant will provide project management support and strategic guidance while coordinating support with the Bureau of Vector Born Diseases (BVBD) to conduct activities related to surveillance, operational research, and monitoring and evaluation (M&E).
Consultancy Roles and Responsibilities
Provide project management support and oversight to support year one workplan activities. Specific tasks to include, but not limited to, the following:
Facilitate liaison and communication with key stakeholders;
Drafting scopes of work for other consultants and/or staff;
Logistics and technical support to ensure implementation of baseline assessments;
Problem solving with regard to ensuring workplan activities are implemented as intended; and
Drafting of progress reports (as needed).
Deliverables will be determined on a task-by-task basis.
Skills and Experience:
Undergraduate or Master’s degree and/or equivalent experience in public health, medicine, research, and/or other related fields.
Up to six years of experience working in international development.
Working knowledge of the Thai public health system and preferably, the national malaria program.
Exceptional communications and interpersonal skills and ability to work within a multi-cultural environment.
Exceptional English written skills, oral communication and presentation skills.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively, responsively, and collaboratively with academic/research institutions and government counterparts.
Thai language capacity is highly valued.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite Applications.
