Position: Mine Risk Education Project Officer (one open position)
Handicap International (HI) seeks Mine Risk Education (MRE) project officer, based in Mae Sot, Tak province, regular working in Ban Mai Nai Soi and Ban Mae Surin, in Mae Hong Son province.

Handicap International is an international non-governmental, non-religious, non-political and non-profit making organization specialised in the field of disability. It works alongside people with disabilities, offering them assistance and supporting them in their efforts to become self-reliant. Since its creation, the organisation has set up programmes in approximately 60 countries worldwide and intervened in many emergency situations.
Handicap International in Thailand is currently supporting projects along the Burma/Thailand border focusing on three thematic as follow:
Rehabilitation Project: provision of functional rehabilitation services for persons with disabilities or impairments in five temporary shelters (Tak and Mae Hong Son provinces),
Disability and Social Inclusion Project: Social inclusion of People with Disabilities and mainstreaming disability into humanitarian services in three temporary shelters (Tak province) and,
Mine Risk Education Project: raising awareness activities on the risk of mines and explosive remnants of war are implemented in nine temporary shelters (Tak, Mae Hong Son, Ratchaburi and Kanchanabui province).
General Mission

Mission: Implementing and manage Mine Risk Education (MRE) project activities under the supervision of his/her project manager and to enhance capacity of MRE Camp Based Staff to ensure the quality of MRE activities services.

Responsibilities Responsibility 1: Plan, monitor, implement the MRE activites and ensure care quality Aim: Ensure the activities are implemented on time with the clinical quality of services
Responsibility 2: Empower, build capacity and coach camp staffs, community staff and health worker for other agencies Aim: Build capacity of MRE community staff to be able to provide the quality of community MRE services.
Responsibility 3: Ensure communication, networking and coordination at field level for MRE activities Aim: Under the supervision of his/her line manager, ensure implementation of good practices and good communication

Qualification required/ Desired profile
Knowledge and skills required:
Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in community development, sociology, or related subjects from a recognized University.
Familiarity with the disability issues.
Fair knowledge in Problem Analysis.
Experience in providing on the job training to field workers/ community workers.
Experience in facilitating and implementing awareness raising campaigns/ events.
Experience of working with Self Help Groups, teachers and students.
Experience in coordination with stakeholders.
Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:
Good organizational, coordination and interpersonal skills
Able to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Thorough knowledge of computer software (e.g., Word, Excel, Email, Internet).
Maturity, positive attitude and experience working under pressure and working in independently.
Able to travel supporting MRE activities other camp as needs
Strong teamwork skills, able to work successfully in a multi-cultural and flexible environment and to handle multiple priorities
Experience:
Minimum of 2 years working experience with NGO's or grassroots organizations’ implementing activities.
Practical experience in working with vulnerable groups and local authorities is mandatory.
Good Experience in training / capacity building.
Languages: Good level of writing reading and speaking Burmese, English and Thai. Knowledge of Karen ( Pwo and S’gaw) language will be an advantage.
