Position Description
The Alumni and Network Coordinator will work with youth from the Mekong region to support their leadership on environment and peacebuilding issues around the region. They will be mainly responsible for managing the alumni program of our youth and young women’s leadership program, through providing support (such as trainings or advice) to participants, giving out small grants, travelling to visit and support alumni’s activities, connecting alumni with regional networking and advocacy opportunities, and managing the reporting and accounting of the program.
They will also help organize our annual 10 day regional youth leadership training together with our Regional Coordinator, and will assist with general management of the office and resource center in Chiang Mai when needed. Finally the Alumni and Network Coordinator will supervise two youth interns at our office in Chiang Mai, helping guide their work and learning..
There is flexibility to develop the program according to the skills and interest of the coordinator and the needs of the alumni. As we are a young and growing organization, this position would suit someone interested in taking on more responsibility and a leadership role in the organization in the near future.
Position Responsibilities
Help the Regional Coordinator to organize localized and regional workshops with future community leaders from Salween and Mekong region countries including co-organizing logistics, speakers, visas, travel etc. The regional workshop will be held in Northern Thailand in July/August.
Take a main lead on managing the Alumni and Networking program, such as helping participants design community projects and giving out small grants, connecting participants with advocacy opportunities, and travelling to visit and support (through trainings, advice, assistance etc.) alumni’s activities in the region.
Develop and design other alumni/network activities as interested and according to needs of alumni; seek additional funding and grant opportunities for alumni.
Manage the documentation, reporting, and accounting of alumni program as well as alumni-led activities.
Supervise two youth interns at the office and help guide their work and learning, and connect them to other organizations for volunteer opportunities.
Selection Criteria
Experience on issues related to peacebuilding, gender or environment issues in the Mekong region.
Able to work with grassroots communities, youth and informal networks.
Self-organized, responsible and able to work independently as well as in a team setting when needed.
Patient, friendly and able to be supportive and serve as a mentor to youth participants and alumni.
Open to working in multi-cultural, multi-religious and international environments; willing to travel internationally occasionally.
Enthusiastic and interested in taking on a leadership role on peacebuilding, water and advocacy issues in the Mekong/Salween.
Experience with any of the following; training, facilitation, organizational development, financial management would be an advantage.
Fluency in at least one Mekong language; able to work and communicate in English (advanced/fluent English not required)
