Position title: Dawna Tenasserim Landscape Manager
Directly reports to: Conservation Programme Manager, WWF-Thailand

Background
The Dawna Tenasserim Landscape (DTL) is one of the six priority landscapes in the WWF GM Strategic Plan (FY16-20). The DTL is made up of relatively moist forests and the rugged watersheds of the Tenasserim, Dawna, and other mountain ranges that drain into the mighty Tenasserim, Salween, and Chao Phraya rivers, supporting many globally endangered and endemic species as well as a diversity of human cultures.
Major Function
The Landscape Manager leads the planning, coordination, and management of the WWF-Thailand effort to conserve the DTL. He/she is responsible for all aspects of this work, including the planning, management, financial, and administrative aspects of the landscape programme. He/she organizes project execution consistent with programme objectives, engaging national counterparts, and building a reputation for quality design and reliable delivery.
Major Responsibilities (and approximate relative % effort / time)
Strategy Development and Implementation (10%)
- Develop an Action Plan for the landscape to deliver the conservation strategy of WWF-Thailand
- Provide leadership and overall direction and coordination for all activities and facilitate and support the delivery of the actions specified in the Action Plan for the landscape
- Review and update the Action Plan for the landscape to ensure alignment with the WWF-Thailand Strategic Plan and the WWF GMP Conservation Strategy
- Work closely with the DTL Transboundary Coordinator to implement the transboundary conservation plan with WWF-Myanmar.
Fundraising, Partnership Development, and Networking (20%)
- Provide inputs to marketing and fundraising proposals and communications when required
- Draft concept notes for WWF Network support for new and continuing projects
- Manage, build, and maintain networks and partnerships on biodiversity conservation with relevant government agencies, NGO partners, provincial and communal authorities, and local communities
- Promote the organization’s image in the community by attendance at meetings
Overall Management (30%)
- Lead the development and regular review of a consistent landscape programme by integrating existing and new projects into a coherent landscape vision and strategy
- Work with financial staff for budget preparation for the activities of the landscape, monitoring, and reporting; guarantee the financial integrity and accountability of project budgets in the landscape
- Provide inputs to communications products and campaigns when required to ensure accurate information will be published to promote the landscape activities
- Facilitate donor and VIP visits to project sites
People Management (10%)
- Participate in the recruitment and selection of staff under supervision and consultants when required
- Responsible as direct line manager of Project Managers / Technical Advisors / Project Officers by reviewing individual work plans, managing performance, providing induction, training, coaching and advice to ensure they are appropriately motivated and that staff deliver the performance objectives
- Work with the HR Manager to identify training needs and development opportunities for supervised staff
Issues Resolution (10%)
- Provide strategic advice and guidance to the CMT and staff in all aspects of the landscape
- Identify project delivery issues and ensure effective coordination of project resources
- Maintain an awareness of staff comments and any complaints to identify any areas that may need development or improvement
Monitoring and Evaluation, Reporting (20%)
- Provide support to the evaluation of the landscape activities
- Ensure the biological monitoring system and monitoring results are in place and communicated among conservation partners and other key stakeholders in the landscape, nationally and internationally
- Prepare periodic technical reports against the approved work plan and budget plan, as per donor requirements
- Make reports to the WWF GMPO and the Government when required
- Provide regular reports and analysis to the Programme Manager to facilitate continuous improvement
Working Relationships
- Internal
- Interact on a regular basis with Conservation Programme Manager, DTL Transboundary Landscape Coordinator, Technical Advisors, Project Managers, and other Landscape Managers, and Regional Technical Advisors.
- Engage with and support WWF-Thailand staff
- WWF Network: Liaise with relevant teams to provide input and seek support as required
- External
- Interact with all relevant stakeholders at the community, commune, district, and provincial level of the landscape.
- Interact with donors, central government partners, and NGOS as needed
Requirements
- Education and Qualification
- Master’s degree or Ph.D.in natural resources management, environmental or conservation management, bioregional planning, development studies, or in relevant fields.
- Qualifications in Project Management
- Knowledge
- Thorough understanding of socioeconomic, conservation and development issues in Thailand
- Extensive knowledge of the flora and fauna of the DTL
- Knowledge of the policy/institutional context related to conservation and the government agencies, development partners, donor institutions, and the not-for-profit sector in the landscape
- Excellent understanding of development partnerships, fund-raising, donor strategies, functions, governmental and international relations
- Knowledge of WWF’s PPMS is an advantage
- Experience
- 5 years of practical experience in leading and managing programs or projects,
- Proven experience in managing programs funded by a diversity of sources, including governments and aid agencies, private sector donors with annual budgets of 1-2 million USD
- Experience working in the DTL is an advantage
- Experience working in multi-cultural environment and international organizations
