Position:   Rehabilitation Project Officer / Physical Therapist  (1 open position)

 

Handicap International (HI) seeks a  Physical Therapist for a position of Rehabilitation Project officer based office in Mae - Sot, Tak province, with 80% works in Mae La camp and 20% works in Mae Sot office.

 

Closing date: 28th February, 2017

It works alongside people with disabilities, offering them assistance and supporting them in their efforts to become self-reliant. Since its creation, the organisation has set up programmes in approximately 60 countries worldwide and intervened in many emergency situations.

 

In Thailand, HI implements 4 projects: Mine Risk Education (MRE) in 9 camps, Disability and Social Inclusion (DSI) in 5 camps, Growing Together (GT) and Physical Rehabilitation project in 5 camps..

Physical rehabilitation project focuses on provision of physiotherapy, occupational therapy and assistive technology (Prosthesis and Assistive Devices) for persons with disabilities.

 

Rehabilitation Project Officer / Physical Therapist’s general mission:

Rehabilitation Project Officer / Physical Therapist, under the supervision of the Rehabilitation Project Manager is responsible for implementing and managing rehabilitation project activities in Mae La camp and enhancing capacities of Rehabilitation Camp Based Staff to ensure the quality of rehabilitation services.

 

He/she will support the Rehabilitation Project Manager in ensuring a smooth running of the Rehabilitation project in its different dimensions: implementation, planning, reporting, budget management, supervision and monitoring.

Responsibilities

  1. Plan, monitor, implement the Rehabilitation activities and ensure quality of services according with HI principles and rules.

Aim: Ensure the activities are implemented on time with the clinical quality of services.

  1. Empower, build capacities and coach camp based staff, community staff and health workers from other agencies in rehabilitation related activities.

Aim: Build capacities of community rehabilitation staff to be able to provide community rehabilitation services with high quality standards.  

  1. Ensure communication, networking, and coordination at field level for Rehabilitation activities.

Aim: Under the supervision of the line manager, ensure implementation of good practices and good communication with beneficiaries and stakeholders.

 

 

  1. Implement activities according to HI project cycle.

Aim: Ensure activities are implemented according to HI and donors’ requirements and progress on a timely manner against the defined objectives and indicators.

 

 

Qualifications required:

Education: At least university degree in Physical Therapy.

Knowledge and skills required:

  • Knowledge and at least 2-years’ experience in Physiotherapy.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience in disability sector strongly recommended.
  • Language - Able to communicate in English and Thai by written, reading and spoken. Knowledge of Karen or Burmese will be an advantage
  • Proficient using the Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and mail merges; email and web searches.

Extra requirement:

  • Professional experience preferably with Non-profit organization or community based organizations of which 1 years.
  • Good Experience in training / capacity building /
  • Practical experience in working with vulnerable groups and local authorities is mandatory.
  • Professional experience working with refugees in the Thai-Burma border, especially parents and vulnerable children.

Other qualifications:

  • Active listening, sense of negotiation, self-initiative, intellectual flexibility, adaptation skills, communication skills, ability to create team spirit and to support team building, autonomy in work and experience in accompanying a team and finding practical solutions.
