Position: Data Entry Officer (1 open position)

Handicap International (HI) seeks a Data Entry Officer based in Mae Sot, Tak province, with possible travel to 3 camps in Tak and 2 camps in Mae Hong Son province.

It works alongside people with disabilities, offering them assistance and supporting them in their efforts to become self-reliant.  Since its creation, the organisation has set up programmes in approximately 60 countries worldwide and intervened in many emergency situations.  

Handicap International in Thailand is currently supporting projects along the Thailand - Burma border focusing on the following:

• Rehabilitation Project: provision of functional rehabilitation services for persons with disabilities or impairments in 5 temporary shelters (Tak and Mae Hong Son provinces),
• Disability and Social Inclusion Project: Social inclusion of People with Disabilities and mainstreaming disability into humanitarian services in 5 temporary shelters

             (Tak and Mae Hong Son provinces)

• Growing Together Project: in 5 temporary shelters (Tak and Mae Hong Son provinces) focusing on enabling vulnerable children including children with disabilities, to develop their full potential on an equal basis with other children and acquire fundamental educational and social skills, as well as support to their family members and/or caregivers and,

• Mine Risk Education Project: raising awareness activities on the risk of mines and explosive remnants of war are implemented in 9 temporary shelters (Tak, Mae Hong Son, Ratchaburi and Kanchanabui province)

Data Entry Officer’s general mission:

The Data Entry Officer will support Rehabilitation, Disability and Social Inclusion (DSI) and Growing Together project teams mainly as well as Mine Risk Education (MRE) team in properly encoding all project data in a functional database and support the development of data collection forms in response to projects’ needs and donors’ indicators. As well, the Data Entry Officer will support the enhancement of a database responsive to projects and organization’s needs.

Under direct supervision of the Operational Coordinator, the Data Entry Officer will support the monitoring, and learning processes of the project teams by providing support on following triage system/referrals and case studies.

Data Entry Officer’s Specific Tasks and Responsibilities:

Responsibility 1: Compile and encode data into one functional database.

Aim: BBP project running a functional database with beneficiaries under all four projects, easy to access and to analyze for the purpose of new projects and reporting of the existing ones.

Responsibility 2:  Support the data collection and data entry processes.

Aim: Data from field teams are collected on regular basis, encoded and cleaned for analysis when required.

Responsibility 3: Contributes to report writing and new proposal’ developments related to beneficiary figures/ analysis and produce case studies.

Aim: Improve the quality of data for reporting and of external communication documents.

Others: delegation

As per requirement of the project, the position might have to take some additional responsibilities delegated by the line manager depending upon need and urgency of the project.

Qualifications required/ Desired Profile:

Education: University degree or equivalent in IT, statistics or related.

Knowledge and skills required:

• At least 1 year experience as data entry clerk or in a similar position.
• Understanding of document and database management.
• Fast typing skills.
• Knowledge of touch typing system is strongly preferred.
• Excellent knowledge of word processing tools and spreadsheets (MS Office Word, Excel, Access, Etc.).
• Working knowledge of office equipment and computer hardware and peripheral devices.
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Attention to detail.

Other qualifications:

• Language -  Good level of written, reading and spoken English and Thai.

Knowledge of Karen or Burmese will be an advantage.

• Active listening, self-initiative, adaptation skills, communication skills, attention to detail and autonomy in work.
