JOB TITLE: Project Manager – Crime & Development (ผู้จัดการโครงการความเชื่อมโยงอาชญากรรมและการพัฒนา) 1 ตำแหน่ง

DEPARTMENT: Office of External Relations and Policy Coordination

 

TEAM PURPOSE: Crime and Development Programme seeks to strengthen TIJ’s ability to consolidate knowledge base and raise awareness under the overarching theme of the interrelationship between crime and development including the SDGs, and the development-led approaches in criminal justice system, drawing both from existing TIJ research and new cross-cutting research works to be undertaken or commissioned by the Programme,  in line with relevant policy frameworks including the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and ASEAN 2025: Forging Ahead Together, with the ultimate goals of supporting crime prevention and criminal justice reform for sustainable development in Thailand and in the ASEAN region.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supports the Chief of Crime and Development Programme on strategy and management of the Crime and Development Unit;
  • Manage programmatic/administrative tasks necessary for the functioning of the Unit such as preparation of budgets, programme proposals and progress reports, memos, and management of human and financial resources;
  • Provide substantive inputs for the conceptualization, planning, implementation and coordination of evidence-based research and capacity-building activities for national and regional criminal justice institutions;
  • Foster coordination and collaboration with relevant research institutes, academia, and ASEAN Member States, intergovernmental agencies including UN agencies, donor countries and civil society;
  • Organize national and regional meetings/conferences on issues related to but not limited to the linkages between crime and development, development-led crime prevention and treatment of offenders, national and transnational crime, drug policy and alternative development, the rule of law and sustainable development;
  • Represent the Institute at national, international and regional meetings/conferences on issues related to crime and development. These may include UN Commissions, UN Expert Group Meetings, and ASEAN Senior Officials Meetings;
  • Draft speeches for senior management;
  • Prepare reports on the activities of the programme for the monthly Board of Directors meeting;
  • Provide oversight and direction to the Project Coordinator in consultation with the Chief of Programme;
  • Coach and mentor entry-level staff and interns; and
  • To assume additional responsibilities as needed or requested

 

QUALIFICATION:

 

Essential

  • Post-graduate degree in law, criminology, international relations, development studies, human rights, social science or other relevant disciplines;
  • At least 5-10 years of experience in programme planning and management;
  • Good understanding of international and regional crime prevention and criminal justice related issues;
  • Experience working with data, writing policy brief and developing analysis;
  • Work experience both at national and international level
  • Fluency in English and Thai language; and
  • Willingness and ability to travel both domestically and internationally on a frequent basis, which may include overnight and weekends on occasion.

 

Skills / Abilities

  • Excellent analytical and writing skills;
  • Excellent at managing logistic and administration for projects;
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
  • Ability to work in a team;
  • Ability to work on own initiative and independently under minimal supervision; and
  • Strong interpersonal skills and cultural awareness

 

Desirable

  • Experience conducting research and/or implementing programmes with socially marginalized and vulnerable groups.
