The Organisation

Plan International is an independent development and humanitarian organisation that advances children’s rights and equality for girls.

We believe in the power and potential of every child. But this is often suppressed by poverty, violence, exclusion and discrimination. And it’s girls who are most affected.

Working together with children, young people, our supporters and partners, we strive for a just world, tackling the root causes of the challenges facing girls and all vulnerable children.

We support children’s rights from birth until they reach adulthood. And we enable children to prepare for – and respond to – crises and adversity. We drive changes in practice and policy at local, national and global levels using our reach, experience and knowledge.

We have been building powerful partnerships for children for over 80 years, and are now active in more than 70 countries.

The Opportunity:

As the Gender Advisor – Mekong, you will lead the realization of Plan’s Gender Equality and Inclusion Policy in the Mekong Country Offices, including programming, advocacy and operations.  Plan International’s ambition is that all of our work will be gender transformative, and this position is a key enabler of this. As such, you will ensure that programme development in all Mekong countries aligns with the new global strategy of Plan International, with a focus on girls’, and in particular adolescent girls.

This exciting opportunity will also support programme staff to mainstream gender into their programs, and provide specific leadership on advocacy initiatives for all countries involved.  As part of this, you will get to provide mentoring, support and training to enable gender transformative project and activity design, monitoring and evaluation frameworks, and to ensure assessment, consultation and communication processes that address the rights of girls and boys, women and men.

By engaging in this role, you will get to provide hands on support to the country offices in the Mekong, which will give you the chance to travel significantly.

  • Solid skills in Facilitation, coaching, and influencing skills, while also having a strong grasp of English
