Baan Dek Foundation is a non-profit, non-political and non-religious organization that supports over 1,000 disadvantaged children in slums and construction site camps in Chiang Mai Province, Thailand. Through tailored educational programs and in-depth individual support, Baan Dek Foundation protects vulnerable children, allows families to become self-sustainable and provides children with opportunities for a better future.

Baan Dek Foundation is officially registered according to Thai Law and is supported by four independent entities: Kids Home France, Kids Home Italia, Kids Home UK and Kids Home America, which are all recognized as charitable associations in their respective countries. Baan Dek Foundation is currently working in partnership with UNICEF Thailand and has won the 2017 MIT Solve Challenge. Responsibilities:

Baan Dek Foundation is currently seeking a female, native Burmese speaker and a female, native Khmer speaker for audio recordings. The objective of the mission is to record audio for an app that teaches life skills, in their own native languages, to vulnerable children living in underserved communities (such as slums and construction site camps).  We would like the Burmese voice in the app to stay consistent as much as possible, so we would prefer an applicant who is planning on staying in Chiang Mai for at least several months, and is able to record at least once every other month.  It is especially important that the applicant has an engaging and friendly voice!  

Recordings will take place at the Baan Dek Foundation office, or a mutually convenient location, and the date and time can be scheduled around your availability.  In order to practice ahead of time, the successful applicant will be provided with the script in both English and Burmese or Khmer (as applicable) ahead of the scheduled recording date, as well as the timing for how long for each section should take to record.

Required Skills:

• Female, native language speaker in Burmese or Khmer
• Friendly and engaging voice
• Proficiency in English and/or Thai for communication with Baan Dek Foundation staff
• Experience with children is considered an asset
• Available to record at least once every other month for several months is considered an asset

Position status: External consultancy on a daily basis.
Compensation: Compensation will be available on a daily basis, to be defined with Program Officer.
