Digital Communications Officer

Purpose of the role:

To respond to our changing world and to build a truly global human rights movement, Amnesty International Thailand is shifting the way we work to support more people to know, claim and enjoy their human rights. We are determined to explore innovative ways to engage and influence, and understand the power of digital as well as traditional media in reaching this goal. We are now looking for Digital Communications Officer who has a sound understanding of integrated communications work and is keen for digital engagement to enhance our work on protecting and promoting human rights. The post-holder will be responsible to support the delivery of Amnesty International Thailand’s digital communications, in line with the organization’s communication strategy and the strategic goals of Amnesty International global movement. An important part of this role is to develop and implement digital communications strategy for the organization in an integrated way to thrive on campaigns impacts and increasing members and fundraising.

Main responsibilities

The role involves, but is not limited to, the following functions:

1. Managing and updating the organization’s website, using our content management system. This includes drafting and editing website content, and scheduling in consultation with the Campaigns and the Growth and Development teams;

2. Managing AITH’s social media outlets in close collaboration with the Media and Communication Coordinator and the Campaigns and the Growth and Development teams. This includes creating innovative and dynamic content, mapping and engaging with strategic digital actors, and regularly updating the layouts of AITH’s social media platforms;

3. Coordinating with Amnesty International Secretariat’s Communications team on getting access to relevant communications materials to apply to AITH’s communications work;

4. Working with external provider(s) on technically maintaining the organization’s website and regularly reviewing its function and layout;

5. Editing media material including op-eds, press releases, letters, reports and briefings in close consultation with the Media and Communication Coordinator, the Campaigns team and the Director as appropriate; 6. Supporting the Campaigns and the Growth and Development teams in organizing digital actions;

7. Monitoring, evaluating and producing report and analysis as required on the management and performance of the organization’s digital communications works;

8. Providing regular analysis and reports against all program objectives and ensure programs meet set targets

9. Deliver the digital membership and income targets as set out in the digital growth plan.

Essential qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in the field related to mass communications, social sciences, IT

Experience: At least one year of work experience in a similar role

Technical knowledge and skills:

• Good understanding of traditional and digital communications and how to harness it, as well as experience in evaluating success using online evaluation platforms

• Sound understanding of human rights • Excellent IT knowledge and skills, and preferably with graphic designing knowledge and skills

• Journalistic, editorial and copywriting

skills Organizational competencies:

1. Result-oriented approach: to achieve performance objectives and realize benefits for the organization by using creativity and innovation

2. Project Management: developing and managing clearly defined work plans and identify objectives, results and success indicators in light of organizational strategies and of constraints, opportunities and resources

3. Commitment to Amnesty International’s mission and principles

4. Ability to work in irregular hours as appropriate

Other skills:

- Excellent communication skills with a range of audiences

- Good command of Thai and English, both verbally and in writing

- Detail-oriented

- Strong team player

- Self-motivated with ability to work autonomously

Main relationships

Reports to: Director

Supervise roles: Volunteers and/or interns

Other relevant relationships: Work closely with Media and Communications Coordinator and the Campaign team and the Growth and Development team in planning and executing communications work to AITH’s target audience.
