Position Title: Project Manager – Umphang (New Position)
Division/Department: Conservation
Reporting to: Conservation Programme Manager
Base Location: Bangkok, Umphang Wildlife Sanctuary
Background and Purposes:
The Project Officer provides support to the Department of National Parks, Wildlife, and Plant Conservation (DNP) to strengthen SMART Patrols via technical training and workshops, reporting, and other functions as needed. The Project Officer also will assist the DNP to conduct tiger and prey monitoring by use of camera traps, foot patrols, and interviews with local villagers.
Major Responsibilities
1 Provide support to DNP to conduct SMART Patrols by: 1) conducting ranger training two times per year for Rangers, 2) providing GPS units, smartphones, radios, spy cameras and other equipment for rangers, 3) providing food, uniforms, boots, and other supplies for rangers, 4) supporting sharing and communication of SMART Patrol data with DNP and other organizations
2 Support tiger and prey research and monitoring such as conducting foot patrols with rangers to look for tiger tracks and other evidence of tigers, conducting surveys and camera trapping to estimate prey abundance etc.
3 Develop and maintain the database of all technical reports, presentation, maps, data and information, pictures produced by the project as well as a list of organizations and companies working in related fields, related products.
4 Prepare Technical Progress Reports, fulfill M&E reporting requirements, and work with Finance staff to produce a required budget and financial reports
5 Provide stories, photos, and video to WWF Communications staff to ensure accurate information is available about the project
6 Establish relations and keep regular contact with key partners, including government counterparts, NGOs, CSOs, and private sector partners
